I understand that it was over the weekend, but does 2 days to legitimize the website sound appropriate for a university?

No, that is what I'm getting at. The only way they would get involved is if they manually blacklisted it in the first place. Sites would be available by default until they are blocked by the service provider through their mechanisms or through blacklisting by State.

They don't have the budget or manpower to implicitly deny the entire Internet.

I have had a few dealing with her as president, and I work with her in Illinois on the Teachers Certification Board. Our endowment has risen with her as president. Last year, over $1m was raised on Blue Day in March. She and the alumni center work closely with me in establishing a scholarship in the School of Education. The dip in enrollment, I would imagine, has a lot to do with Covid. Let's give her a chance to see if they can start to bounce back.
Losing a quarter of your enrollment (literally 24%!!!!) over 3 years is much more than a dip. And covid is the excuse, not the problem. Enrollment starting dropping like a rock before covid. I'm glad to hear about the fundraising efforts. That's exactly what she was brought in to do, with Mike Licari handling the day to day running of the university. Well that dude is now at Austin Peau. And here we are....

I knew they were full of shit.

Other than the Governor, to whom does the BoT justify their decisions? Holcomb's mother is an ISU grad as is one of his siblings - not sure that gives ISU a pass or more scrutiny...

honors college... they can sell the sh*t out of it, west lafayette, gloomington, iupuIndy, purdue-Ft Wayne, ISU-Muncee... all have honors college, not sure ISU has an advantage by also hosting one,

agree they admission office needs to target the Indy donut areas hard; an old soapbox but iupui, purdue ft wayne; isu-evansville have ALL been obstacles to ISU's growth, sustainment, improvement. Add all of the "upper level" iu regional high schools and it's not surprising ISU is struggling to find, retain students

Of course all of the schools have them and they all should be selling them. They should be selling all of the programs and majors that are in high demand and paring back those that aren't. They need to adapt to the needs and wants of their customers (students) while developing programs and curriculum that will get those customers gainfully employed. It's actually cool to be smart these days.

As for the admissions office, when Tanner was in high school, there was little effort put out. I talked about the table they had at the college fair that paled in comparison to a girl scout cookie setup at the local Walmart and the girl running it was as disinterested as they come. This was at a school with very high functioning potential students. I've said it multiple times, but Tanner wasn't in the Top 50% there and had damn near a 4.0 and ended up being a Presidential Scholar and the SGA President. Same school that had college pennants in the guidance office and ISU wasn't represented but places like IU-Kokomo were. Hmm, maybe just maybe, you hit that school with a tad bit more effort.

Alot of it (in terms of Admissions) is relationship building. A school like ISU can't walk in to any ol school, plop down, and expect a warm reception. You have to talk to staff, understand their students, gain a level of trust, sell what you're university has to offer financially, academically, and socially. Have events on your campus where you invite high school guidance counselors to your college for workshops. NEVER pass up one of those opportunities!! I've had to recruit minority students to an almost all white private school that the kids had never heard of. I did that by showing up and developing relationships, with the staff first and then the students. I was at the workshops, career fairs, state conferences. Many times I was at a table very close to IU, Purdue, IUPUI. Guess who I don't ever remember being there? You guessed it, ISU. If there's little to no relationship its a hard uphill climb. ISU can get good in the relationship game. We just have to want to and then go to work.
