The Wade Level
Something to maybe wake up a few guys on this team and see if we can get some defense and production from someone eager to play???

I'd love to see RJ, Lucas, Gant and hell at this point even try KD again....anything to see if we can get a spark from someone??

Wish i could say it would work but not sure it would. We already benched steve and it doesnt seem like thats helped him get it together. Coach shouldnt have to bench multiple sr's in order for them to "get it". To be honest RJ should be starting over Carl at this point based on their play but other than that we just need our guys to play better. Starting Lucas or KD is not the answer. I also have be clamoring for more pt for Kitchell and Gant, but they have do more when they get in the game. They combined for 1 rebound and 1 point in 14 minutes of pt. last night. They probably would benefit from playing extended minutes but thats just not going to happen this year unless they produce more in the small stretches they get.

Very well put togeather! I'm with this!

I'm sure Coach Lansing would love to find someone who could light a fire under this team.As stated above no one has really put themselves to the front of the line when they have gotten playing time.I have also suggested more playing time for Gant and Kitchell as several of you havedone.Answers are hard to find this season. We've 2 or 3 guys have good games here and there but Jake is probably the only reasonably consistent producer we have.Last year was very similar but this year we just can't seem to defend anybody. We certainly aren't going to outscore anyone so the defense has to be there. If the recent trend continues I'm sure we'll get to see everyboby get a chance to play as we evaluate guys for next season, hopefully that won't be the case.
The only other question is,do we have good enough players to be successful at this level? only time will tell on that topic.

Well, we've got 6+ new players coming in next year. I'm with you, I hope they are good enough because the Valley is a level better than last year and I hope it keeps getting better.
SIU, ILL ST, NIU, UE, Drake etc have all improved from last year.

Still need a big man to replace Walker! This team can't rebound. I don't see anyone coming in to help improve that at this point.

It's time for RJ to start and play at least 25 minutes a game. He didn't shoot great last night but he makes things happen when he's in and isn't afraid to take a tough shot. He's also great at taking a charge. I hate to cut on players, but Carl hurts us more than he helps right now. I think Gant and Kitchell have some good spurts and need more pt. I hate to say wait til next year, but we have some good athletes coming in and this current group is not very athletic, it's no wonder we get beat off the dribble and give up lay ups. Myles plays hard most of the time but can't jump over a phone book.

But they do turn it over nicely. Look at the posts from two years ago and Odum and the Eitels were going to save us. Seems to me that Odum is still playing playground ball. All dribble and off balance shots. What a disappointment this team has turned out to be.

First off I dont recall anyone saying the eitels were going to save us. Not sure where you pulled that from. But playground ball?? He was the only thing keeping that sinking ship afloat last night! What do you want the point guard to do not dribble the ball? Someone has to pentrate and dish because god knows we dont have anybody who can consistantly get themselves good looks. I'd venture to guess 60 or 70 percent of RJ's or Printy's threes have been opened up by Odums "dribbling" and without it they dont even get their shots off. He might make some mistakes but he also makes most of our plays out there happen. Also other people giving him so much heat for his defense should remember his foot injury is going to leave him a little slower on defense, im just happy he is playing through it. Im frustrated with the teams play too but putting the blame on 13 is really out there. I'd hate to think what our record would be without him.

I'm probably gonna get yelled at for saying this, but I think Lansing has lost control of this team. We aren't making adjustments at all. We can't play defense, we can't score when we need to. This team is so inconsistent, it's not funny. Lansing needs to gain control of this team or this downward spiral will continue. We will be lucky to win another game. This team starts out so flat and that is a reflection of coaching and so is the attitude on the floor.

Look people when have had a terrible couple of weeks here BUT, We aren't in the worst position we could be in. We could be 0-6. Lets not get too hasty and calling for the head coach who just took us to the big dances head.
Am I happy about it? No but lets not get out of hand here.
On a lineup suggestion card;
Why can't we move Carl to the 3 permanently? He is getting wore down battling these big guys and we have to make a change. We have the depth to do it, we have the talent.

Frankly, I am concerned about that too. We are at the bottom of the Valley in 3's and 3's defense. We are not an outside shooting team, so we need to drive and drive and drive. And why can't we guard the 3?

It seems like we are trying to prevent penetration so we play back off them a little. They didn't defend Ryan that way and they didn't defend Jenkins that way so we do a great job of defending the other teams best player for the most part. You may have noticed that our opponents leading scorers when we get beat are almost always guys who normally don't score much. But when they play us they drop 20 and shoot 9 for 9, partly be because we're so focused on stopping their stud, which allows their nobodies to light us up.

I really think that our success last year has caught up with us in league play.Everybody is seemingly playing their best game against us and our intensity is not as high as last year either.I don't think that Coach Lansing has forgotten how to coach all of the sudden,if we hit a few shots and the other team misses a few our record would be a lot better.I do still feel that changes in the line-up might provide a little incentive for the seniors,if not then we might as well play the young guys anyway and let them get the experience.

The Valley has moved up to 7 or 8. A lot of the teams are much better than last year. I don't think a lot of the posters on here are giving our opponents enough respect. The sky is not falling every time we lose a road conference game. I know what's bothering our fans, though. We have some individuals that can play better and harder, and therefore as a team we are not playing near our potential.
