Nice story...John looks good for his age. He was pitching coach @ Miami Westminster HS
during the late 80[s & early 90's when I was umpiring FHSAA baseball in Brevard Co...Westminster was one of the best programs in FL at the time.

I recall in '60 (?) when Otter Creek HS played the 'Cats @ Spencer Field...we had a pretty good ball club under HC Paul "Shorty" Thomas and Asst. Don Jennings. Jennings later became HC @ Garfield/THN, winning an IHSAA State Championdship in the early 70's!

Funny, but I'd swear on a Bible that Howard Sharpe's squad & TJ beat the Otters 3-1,
but during the late 80's, MIKE STURM (a member of the OC squad) told me that OC BEAT TJ...I'm still not sure about that one!!!! Funny how TIME plays with reality! My future bros in law (Mike Brown) played 1B on that OC squad - his parents owned the "Swap Shop" there on the 12 Points triangle."

I do from my pre isu days
I have a pic of TJ when he was 3ish during Sharpe's initial yrs. @ Tech during the mid-40's...my mother was a cheerleader for the Black Cats. She said TJ was a lil' ballboy that would be courtside during pre-game, putting on a dribbling "exhibition!" She also told me that all the HS girls had a crush on Sharpie during his early years of teaching during the post- WWII era.
