Toyota has announced it will be building a new plant in the US and employ 4,000 workers. The location has yet to be determined.
Wouldn't it be nice if TH could land this project?

Yes, it would be great, but who in their right mind (given the current fiscal/political crisis facing Terre Haute) would wanna step into this frying pan? Also, don't forget the "pro-unionist" attitude of most local TH/Vigo Democrats. Did you see the recent Canton, MS Nissan vote? Just think if this attitude would've existed around TH when Allis-Chalmers was going strong...

Hummmm...............

If TH did get it ...............Toyota Memorial Stadium ......"On the Banks of the Wabash"

They are currently building a giant power plant here in northern indiana. And the rumor on the street is they had to double it in size and toyota is footing the bill to do so. The "plan" is then toyota is putting a plant next door and using that power plant since they will be a 50% owner. I could be completely wrong but ive heard rumors of this for about a year now

Wouldn't shock me one bit - take away the crime and Fort Wayne is on the up and up. They've been pumping money into downtown and they already have a Chevy plant in FW. Wouldn't shock me one bit - if that's the northern IN your talking about.

The power plant site is just outside of a small town called New Carlisle, about 10 minutes west of South Bend. The industrial park there is exploding with new developments, it is literally sandwhiched inbetween two major highways and about 2 miles south of the toll-road, has multiple railway lines running directly through it, has an underground aquifer for unlimited water, and now will have a giant power plant. It has all the makings for a toyota factory and with the areas car manufacturing history (stuedabacker & A.M. General) I could see it happening.

While "browsing," I came across THIS article, which means that some industry with DEEP POCKETS is sniffing around the area:

the "IN TEK" steel factory that they refer to is the big white building shown in the picture, the power plant that toyota co-owns is the building being built just to the west of IN TEK (you can see it in the picture). The picture must of have been taking in the early spring because the power plant has taken shape and they are currently doing all the interior work on it.

Just as an FYI, I live about 4 miles away from this industrial site so I know the lay-of-the-land very well.
