Watched one practice with some scrimmaging. Not a lot to see, because several apparent starters sat out. Booker does look a little bigger, and is clearly the top RB, although Taylor didn't practice. Adam didn't practice either. What we will see is more mobility at QB, but there's a lot of work to do to be on the level of Perish in the passing game. Some not so well thrown balls in traffic, and some indecision, which I guess would still be expected. The most noticable thing I saw was the depth at LB. In addition to Walker, Underwood, and Thurman, Wallace and Jackson look like pretty good players--decent size, very athletic. Didn't notice if Ratliff was playing, but he was a solid starter last year. The team has pretty good overall depth, and some size on both lines.
The other noticable thing, at least in my opinion, was that there wasn't enough crispness in the drills and the practice overall. Granted, it was in kind of the dog days, and pretty warm, but the energy level and the speed in the drills wasn't at a very high level. Hoping they build up the intensity and have a sense of urgency that they need to open the season very strong and build into the conference season. Going to be a tough road to return to the playoffs.
