Looks like they followed some of the recommendations from Sycamore fans, including taking time to list those players from Indy. Maybe as long as the Pacers aren't playing, Wells can do more stories on us and other smaller universities around the state.

It took a bit of reading before I "realized" I wasn't reading the story from Fox Sports... maybe FoxSports.com and Gannett have a 'info sharing' agreement...

Expected more from the Star, shouldn't have but I did.

Let's keep giving them reasons to print stuff on the Trees!

I also noticed the similarities with the FoxSports.com column....

But what set it apart for me were the comments from Trent about the kind of players that they want to recruit to Indiana State. That was almost as good as an advertisement. Hopefully some high school players in central Indiana, along with their parents and coaches, will take more of a look at Indiana State now than perhaps they might have in the past.

My guess is that they will continue to cover us as long as we stay in the polls (inotherwards, as long as we keeping WINNING!). One win over NDSU would help us tremendously. The more I think about it, the bigger that game is. Had we beaten Illinois State, that game would not be so critical but because we came up short at ILSt, now EVERY game is critcal.

Nice article. Glad to see Indy paying attention somewhere other than Bloomington. Not to be a Negative Nancy, but after almost two seasons do they still have to reference the losing streak. Yes I know it shows how far the program as come, but they didn't need to include the chart showing all the major losing streaks. After seeing that though I have to wonder, if ISU was contemplating dropping the program during a 33 game losing streak, what was going on at Prairie View?

Yeah, I said since the beginning of the year that this Sycamore teams most important game would be at Illinois State. Road game, against a Rival and would be important in the playoff atmosphere.

NDSU is important, but it's by no means locked up if we pull off the victory. Mo. State got its first MVC win last weekend and we play them on the road then finish at home against SIU, who thumped us at the end of last season.

I think loosing to SIU last year had a lot to do with our QB going down in the first series.

I think our playoffs start next Saturday and will last for 8 weeks

Aside from bashing IU, does anything make you happy, 4Q? :D

Despite its similarity to the Fox Sports article, I was just pleased the Indy Star ran a story (with color photos, no less) about the Trees!

Well the Star rarely does!!! I'm old enough to remember how good that paper used to be...

And yes, there are several other things, however, as this site tries to be a 'family affair...' I will not elaborate!

I was at the SIU vs. ISU game last year. It wasn't one player out that lost that game. Yes ISU had chances but SIU plain outclassed ISU that day.

Back to any given day in the Valley

I think we may have been missing 3 linebackers, one of which was our punter.

Their running back was really good imo

The SIU game last year was a bad game all around. Coy Glass played very well replacing Ronnie. We were outmanned on both lines, gave up some long balls, and didn't play well on special teams. Gates had a good day, and went over 1,000 in that game, which I loved to see--he was a class guy and an excellent back. SIU, even with a losing record, will be a dangerous team for us. We need to come to play big time in all 3 games--keep that playoff hope alive guys!

The Fox Sports article was pretty good, but i dont think that had print size and length restrictions. As to what was in the Indy paper, they hit on the high points, gave us a little press for indy kids and i dont mind bringing up the streak because it gives a good perspective as to how big the turnaround has been.

just curious, maybe tom can give some insight but when they do a story do they get a word quota or size of article or how does that work.

Yeah, they usually have a limit on how big the stories can be....

it often depends on what day of the week that the story runs. Anywhere from 14-18 inch stories.
