The Captain Level
Coach Miles and Georgia State punched their ticket to a bowl game today with an absolute dismantling of Georgia Southern on the road, 34-7. Georgia State finishes regular season at 6-6, 5-3 in Sunbelt (4th place) and on a 4 game winning streak.

Quite a few guys on that coaching staff with ISU ties, as well as a player or two. Congrats guys!

I just read something this morning saying they were going to discuss his future at the end of the season. Will be interesting to see what the administration does there.

They are also trying to buy the Turner Field property and retrofit it into a football stadium for Ga State... Seems as though the rent at the Ga Dome is too expensive. Stories indicate a cool $300 million will seal the deal for the Panthers

Must be nice to be coaching at a school that can afford to do such things.

Yeah, don't even think or even dream about that at ISU. If money like that was available it would not be directed to football.

Ya I guess if they scheduled the game before Saturday that meeting maybe could have gone either way? That school has big dreams for the football team.

As Hoops and I know, and probably many of you as well, a real positive difference maker this year has been the new GA/position coach, Chris O'Leary. Humility prevents Hoops from making that observation, but not me! Great job Coach Miles and GSU staff. Outstanding first-year as a college coach Chris O'Leary !!

Happy for Trent. He has provided a lot of Indiana State kids an opportunity to get into coaching and be succesful at the next stage in life and good on him for that. He did and continues to do well by Indiana State and Terre Haute. When all is said and done that is all you can ask. Certainly more than you can say about most coaches that leave here. Obviosuly the circumstances are much different for him - but still nice to see his loyalty still exists.

from what i have read, their fanbase GSU is a very unrealistic bunch

Yep. From what it sounds like, they've had morons for administrators for a long time. They've been over 30k enrollment for awhile but have never put any focus on athletics. They missed the boat despite being in one of the most talent rich states in the country and now they think they can just play catch up. They've let too many generations of Georgians be Bulldog fans IMO.

Same shit we did.

I don't know that we were ever in the position that Ga State is in... The height of our student base was during VietNam -- with the draft, easy to see why.... We've finally cracked 14,000 students, however, as so many collegiate sports events are on TV... Why sit in the cold or deal with the support staff.... Plus our years of success are so intermittent that its hard to establish a hard-core fan base....

In terms of us, I'm talking continuous short minded thinking since the middle 70s. There is no reason we couldn't also be sitting at 20-25k students and being in a completely different position a la how Ball State grew.

Fair point, I've long maintained that isu-e and iupui have done more to "kill" us than all of the pointy-headed administrators.
As the state of Indiana is, effectively, run by a bunch of £°€π|^©=`°£¥°€= idiots with iu degrees, we were never gonna get support to grow from Indianapolis.

This may be the most accurate and meaningful post made on SP. I know others have expressed this sentiment several times. I include all pf those in this reply.

I'm trying to think of a P5 school that could use him. Illinois or Purdue? I cant think of any from other conferences that are in that shape even though I know there are

Illinois signed their interim to a 2 year deal?? Lotta talk that Purdue will eat hazell's contract rather than buy him out.... Another theory is that Spack will return to Purdue and clean up that mess....
