Total bummer for all parties involved. But a good call, as Jason said.

Andy maybe just maybe he'll suit up for the Sycamores next year!

Jason is spot on here. Selfishly I hate seeing him be out, but it is whats best for him. His abilities would thrive in this offense and it would have been awesome to see him have a monster year to bolster his professional chances. I send my prayers and best wishes for a full recovery and I look forward to watching him play again....wherever that shall be.

Sucks to lose him for the season but it's the right thing to do for Tyreke. Wish him a speedy recovery. Hope he comes back healthy and better than ever!

I would say his career at Indiana State is likely over - if I was guessing. That first part of his statement seemed to indicate as much to me anyway.

But yes - very much the right decision it sounds like and wish the best for hun. Will be a shame to not get to see him play this year and rather sad that what is likely his final season at InState wasn’t played in front of fans. I hate that for him.

Also probably worth mentioning here that you’re looking at a pretty safe bet for Thursday night basketball in STL. If they avoid Thursday it will really speak to JS’s in game coaching decisions because he has his hands full with this roster right now… It’s going to be a really long year I think.

It didn't have to be this way....

Hell of a loss to lose your best player....maybe the best player in the MVC. I loved watching him play. He tore up the Aces every time we played against him. I wish him well. This may give Coach Schertz an opportunity to play some of the younger players that could pay off down the road. ISU always seems to do better than what is predicted of them.

Explain?

Well, this sucks. I'm sorry to hear that Tyreke is dealing with such a significant injury, and I'm sorry to think we may never see him in a Sycamore uniform again. He's been a model student, teammate and player from all accounts, and I hope he rubbed off on our other players during his time in Terre Haute.

I'm now going to start looking at flights to St. Louis that get in early Thursday morning...

He sure will be missed, bye KEY I assume it would be hard to get a pro look with a year off, but I hope I'm wrong.

I’m glad he is going to get healthy but sad I won’t get to see him play.

Hopefully after the surgery he will be able to be around the team and practices as well as be on the bench for home games. As mentioned prior he brings a lot to the table as a leader and can still have a positive impact on the team.

Prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery. 🙏🏻

Coach Schertz said Tyreke will remain with the team all the time. He will be treated as a coach....help game plan, scout, sit in on coaches meetings. CS said while Tyreke won't be able to physically contribute, they will help him strengthen his mental level and gain more basketball IQ to help take his game to the next level.
