an oil field according to people in the geology department. Can you imagine the money that would generate if that were true! Also heard there was a small student protest over it as well. Anyone have good info on this?

They are getting something like 15% from the well(s) that will be located just east of the tracks on the east side of campus. Ironically two of Dr. Bradley's degrees are in petroleum engineering. Some students protested in front of Condit House but the effect on the students would be minimal and the up side of the whole situation outweighs the downside, so say the Trustees..

Seriously though, this is an interesting development. Wonder exactly what kind of revenue this will bring in for Indiana State. Would be cool if they earmarked this for campus development projects since it would go right back into the ground so to speak.

Maybe Sycamore Sam and the cheerleaders can start reenacting scenes from "There Will be Blood" during timeouts.

Hey, if they found a 500 barrel per day deposit on the Hulman Farm, stands to reason that ISU would also have some oil....and if so, then they can use the money to do something good? The real question is the board deciding the appropriate funds for the cash to go towards...

Doing a little quick math, that would add approximately $2.9M to ISU's coffers annually. Hopefully, they don't do something stupid with the money, like funding an MBA in "Sustainability" like I heard another college doing this morning...:eek7:

That would be a good shot in the arm for a budget that keeps getting the axe from the state.

The state would probably just cut the funds that much more.

Just hope they don't decide to "adjust" our budget since we have this going on...

well, therein lies the problem. Trust.

Will ISU do the right thing...I sure hope so. But do I trust them to do the right thing?? I just don't know.

I do appreciate Dr. Bradley's comments and think that he is approaching this correctly (he does have the experience to approach it correctly). I just hope the board listens to him!

One of Sack and my fraternity brothers is a bat expert and did studies on them while at State. I can't remember what his degree was in though.
