Due to mental and physical health issues. This coaching carousel keeps goin' round and round. I'd be shocked if they didn't hire Dan Mullen from Mississippi State. Great young coach and was on Meyer's UF staff, dynamic recruiter, etc.

College football has been CRAZY this offseason.

AGAIN?!?!?! Didn't this happen that this same time last year?

I'm not a big fan of Meyer. He is one of the dirtiest recruiters out there. In following recruiting as much as I do, hearing some of the things he and his staff say are pretty telling of his character IMO.

is he recruiting illegally? if not all is fair game in my opinion. whatever he has done recruiting works.

TMZ was quick to mention that Tim Tebow is in Denver who is looking for a new coach. Better not happen.

I doubt it. For one, I think Meyer is legitimately ready to be done. He tried to retire last year after a trip to the emergency room. Also, I don't think Denver is interested in Tebow and McDaniels' plans for him anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to get rid of him now and cut the last of their losses. I read a column about Tebow the other day and what the firing means for him. As they noted, if Tebow wasn't getting more playing time with McDaniels as HC, he's not likely to get any under a new coach.

Not a Meyer fan but I can understand and appreciate stepping down to spend more time with the family. Health issues are another thing going against him.

Urban has always shown to be the type of coach that I would like to have...sticks up for his players and I respect that.

Who would you rather have coach your team, Meyer or Trent Miles?

I'd rather have Miles, and not because I am bias.

Uhhhhh that's a loaded question...
I love Trent...he's a great guy, solid coach and is always there for his players...But Urban Meyer has two BCS national championships and is one of, if not the best recruiter in the nation...

Yeah, it's tough to recruit to sun, palm trees, virtually no cold weather; 3x the Co-Eds AND in one of the most corrupt, no academics required conferences in the country.

He'll be coaching again w/in 5-7 years

The guy was also very successful at Utah where they don't quite have these qualities. He wasn't around long, But hes one of the best ever for the short time he was.

True but as you said it wasn't long (2 years); Utah is also damn close to SoCal, great skiing and SLC is not as conservative as some might think...

the state IS, Provo and Ogden are, but SLC is a bit different

Yeah. Highly rated players really want to go somewhere where they can ski! He was also 17-6 at Bowling Green.

So, you're telling me HS football from the west DON'T ski?

I'm not saying Meyer ISN'T a good coach, he is.

I'm simply saying that RECRUITING kids to FLA is EASIER than Starkville, Mississippi.

Meyer is only 46, wait for his son to get a bit older and I bet he'll be back in the coaching game. Maybe not at a place with the crazy expectations of UFla but I think he'll be back.

BTW -- The State of Ohio has nearly twice as many people as Indiana; Ohio is a CRAZY-Mad HS Football state, it's no surprise Meyer did well at a Ohio MAC school.

Yep -- Bowling Green St is 51-36 (58.6) with 4 bowls (2-2) since Meyer left.

Who here at State wouldn't accept a ~59% winning percentage and 4 appearances in the FCS playoffs in the past 8 years?

Recruiting is easier at some places than others.

Sometimes that's because of the coach, the school, resources ($$ and other), the weather; they all play a part.
