are playing on ESPN. The trip to NYC and the MIT semi's for the winner. The game is at Valpo, and the crowd and atmosphere is what we dream of.

If the games were moved to the Arena once in a while we might get the same "full house" atmosphere and even create a demand for tickets........

yep....that is a REAL hoosier homecourt advantage; for sure not playing in a half empty larger venue.

I miss those dayz...nestled tightly in an 18" bleacher seat w/ the aroma of humanity filling the air during a tight game, where maintenance has purposely turned the "heat up" to conform to the temperature desired for a lil' "home cooking." Rather than fall asleep in my comfy, cushioned chairback, back then I couldn't wait to stand and cheer, albeit just to stretch my glutes!

America has become SOFT in so many wayz...:cheeky:

Hummmmm ................... Butler & Valpo -- much smaller schools, ISU with a much bigger arena, ISU '79 trip to NCAA title game, much better conference for ISU most of the last 35 years, thousands more alumni for ISU ..................so how ..............how in the world did this happen ?
Butler & Valpo -- in the '60's same level as ISU -- ISU with all the advantages listed above (and probably more) yet we struggle and hope to have a winning season most of the time while Valpo & Butler roll almost every year to nice winning seasons, NCAA & NIT appearances .............
Gotta wonder .............how did this happen ? ? ?

1st: both of these schools are very good academic institutions.
2nd: Valpo grants degrees in law and engineering, while Butler has pharmacy. ISU is noted for Education. Thus the earning potential of their alums is possibly greater.
3rd: Contributions by alums. See #2 above.
4th: Pride. See #2 above.
5th: Recruiting budget. My guess is that both schools commit more money to recruiting than we do.
6th: Notoriety. Both schools are in larger TV markets. Butler/Indpls and Valpo/Chicago
I'm sure there are other items I can point out, but that should do for now.
