Southern Illinois (1-3) at Illinois State (3-1) SIU is down
S. Dak. St. (0-3) at UNI (1-2) UNI looked awful at Iowa State, will want to prove they're better than 1-2

Didn't you pick USD last week because their Offense was MUCH better?? LOL its all good, but out new QB put up 21 points in the 3rd last week, and the d is tops in the FCS. We actually have D backs with speed. and the D-line is stellar with our 8 man rotation to keep them fresh.

Anyhow:

YSU
ISU-R
UNI
NDSU
ISU-B;)

My opinion only, and not a knock at INSU because SIU schedules like that, too, but, as a conference, we gotta stop playing Quincy, Effingham School of Dentistry, St. Ambrose and Palmer Chiropractic.

CnC, When we get our ship "righted" and the TREES are back to our winning ways, then we can talk. There is a reason we are playing "Effingham School of Denistry". It's called experience, confidence and a return (eventually) to a proud tradition. Until then, we'll all tolerate them and hope that we have no more "backfires" as was the Q game last year.

Cap'n Cat,
I agree partially but like the big boys, we have to play our gimmes too...

As of the moment, I don't believe we have any gimmes. Q game last year is the basis for my belief. It will take more than a St. Joe game to change my opinion. Increased performance over a few years will do it. I do believe that will happen, but I can't accept an assumption of that happening at this point in time. Don't take me wrong, I'm not attacking your opinion. I'm just stating mine. You are right--we need gimmes. I just don't know if we can call them gimmes right now.

Sycamore proud...for any program at our stature, Quincy SHOULD bea gimme...and I got a feeling we are going to show it...I mean I know it's difficult to see but I am just saying we have to play games against lower competition like the bigger schools do!

Agreed! Scheduling 2 of our first 3 games with gimmes for another year or 2, maybe 3 could be a good thing. Next year we have Penn State and Western Ky to choose from to go along with Butler. The following year there is IU and D+. In 2013 it's IU and PU.. I appreciate aggressive scheduling, but we may need gimmes.

I'd like to get Eastern Illinois back on the schedule, but also would like at least one Div. II opponent each year for a tune up. The third non-conf. game is obviously a money game. I hate it when we have to schedule two money games in one year. That's why I'll take the big money games against a Penn State, vs a year playing both NIU and Eastern Michigain. Even if you upset one of those teams, which we're not anywhere close to being able to do, it gets you little recognition.

Also, Palmer doesn't have a football team, but it would be interesting to see us go up against their rugby team. Have to agree that we shouldn't be playing two lower tier schools in one season but I'm glad we have a shot at revenge this weekend.

At this point, our program needs this game. We are still in a rebuilding process and games like the two this year are very important for our program to get running the way we all want it to.

I have said it before but I would love to have EIU back on our schedule on a regular basis, for many reasons, but (lack of) travel makes up for a lot of $$$ spent with a similar opponent, and while we are dreaming, let's have more of Butler and Drake on our schedule as well because that are essentially 1-AAA, which is D-1, no scholies and that makes a ton of sense as well. So is University of Dayton but i am afraid that might backfire on us. They are solid.

Here goes nothing...

Indiana State
Youngstown State
Illinois State
Univ. of Northern Iowa
North Dakota State

I think there are plenty of FCS schools out there that we can beat on a regular basis without dipping DII or NAIA. The Butler game coming up, Valpo, Drake usually, and some of the others. It looks better beating Morehead St. and Butler than it does beating St. Joe's. Just my thought

some updates in the early games in the MVFC

YSU is up 17-7 on MSU at the half
SIU is up 17-7 on Illinois State in the 3rd.
Western Illinois is hammering N. Dak. St. 21-6 at the half, folks WIU is a GOOD football team, ISU did not lose to a bad team last week, rain or no rain.....just sayin'
