Bally #50

The JSW Level
It would appear that the Sycamores are bringing out the black uniforms again on Saturday. I love the concept and at least some Megan McKenna-type stuff is coming out from the athletic office once again. That's good to see.

But where do I find BLACK Indiana State stuff in my closet? Got the black hat but looks like I will have to go plain black if I am to stay with the "theme". Black, Blue or White, I am ready for some ISU football. GO TREES~

Sounds like a tip to the new bookstore could help! Who knows maybe Trent has an extra tee for a season ticket holder.
Good Idea IS45. The only problem with that idea is that a trip to the bookstore before the game takes away from my tailgating time. What a dilemma! Ironically, the one item I have been keeping my eyes opened for from ISU was in fact, a black hoodie/sweathshirt.

I like the sound of that "season ticket holder". It only took me 45 seasons to do it. Sadly, over the years, I have been given tickets probably 85% of the time. One ticket is not much but it makes me feel better that, in a small way, I am showing my support for the team. I promised Ron at the Indy golf outing that I would buy one and I was true to my word.

The absolute BEST reason to do it in my opinion.
I'm buying the family pack, just so I can hand out tickets whenever someone shows interest - especially those with kids. My wife and I will use ours, but our daughter is now a Sycamore and gets in for free.

Very cool

I like the Black out...good move. But unless you are going to give the students black t-shirts and the fans too....how are you going to have a black out? At least have them for sale outside the stadium...just a simple black t-shirt with ISU FOOTBALL in blue on it. You could get those made very cheap...oh well.

Also, I know that some like and some don't like the uniforms. First, I am delighted that we have an actual company making the unis that makes football clothing, shoes, etc. Nike (though not my favorite by any means) is a much better option for ISU than New Balance was....it just looked silly with that big NB on the uni.

But, I will say that I think the uni's that they wore at Penn State were a little...off to me. The stripe thing on the top and the pants just looked funny to me. I think it is the fact that the pants stripe was different than the shirt stripe. Either way, I am not saying I didn't like them. I just thought that they didn't "go" together as well as I would have thought. I really like the black jersey for sure however. Just my 2 cents.

Sack, if you looked closely, the blues in the pants, the jerseys and the helmuts were THREE different blues. I liked the dark pants appearance but as you said, they were a tad of a mismatch if you looked closely.

That said, the people in the stands didn't notice it most likely, only the TV viewers when they got a closeup. Seeing the players coming out on the field made me proud as hell though, no matter how much they mismatched.

I'll be wearing blue. I don't have any Indiana State black clothing. Last time they did black out at Memorial, most people wore blue. I wore black and felt like I was the only damn one.

Personally, considering how attendance has been low, I think we should get people in the building and wearing blue first. How about they give away an XBox at halftime or something cool like that. Have a promotion other than the Pepsi kicking contest or Pacesetting gift certificate.

I still don't see what the big deal is about wearing black. I will be wearing blue as I have been for the past 33 years. That being said, If the team gets excited about wearing a color other than Sycamore Blue, then I don't care if they wear pink as long as they kick some tail.

I agree about the uni's not quite going together. I liked the jersey when posted in the original picture, but when I saw it with the black pants...it just didn't work for me. I have no idea what the total cost of a full uniform is, but I wish we could get a full new set of homes and sways that actually go together, and not look pieced together. At this point I could take or leave the black, I do think that is our best looking combination though. I think matching white pants would make the away whites look better than the black pants did. Personally, I'd like to see a blue variation on and Ohio State style.

So the PSU roadie pants were black?. I actually wasn't sure looking on my old tube set but anyone watching in high def would know. As noted above, the stripes on the pants were what detracted from the look, not the dark pants themselves, which actually IMO make the away unis looks a lot better.

I remember 5-10 years ago when the Colt's put BLUE pants with their road white jerseys and they looked AWESOME! The only down side was that I believe they lost 2 or 3 straight in them and according to some who should know, they actually burned them and vowed to never try it again. Too bad because they really looked great.

Remember the school colors were Salmon and White at one point. Salmon just gives you that feeling of toughness, doesn't it? :-)

There is no one on this board who can say they saw / wore Salmon and White (blue and white were selected in 1899.)

Anyone know WHY the colors were Salmon and White?

Here's a hint -- there was a REASON, unlike the band-wagon jumping choice of BFBS.

Stunned that someone didn't know the uni pants at PSU were black... How could you not? Unless you were watching on a B/W set...

As someone pointed out; we had 3, 3 different shades of blue at PSU; we should get THAT fixed before we add some arbitrary / capricious colors...

I could tell they were either VERY dark blue or black but It was not blatantly obvious on the set I was watching it on. I could have raised the brightness slightly and determined but frankly, I was into the game much more than the uniforms~
