I will continue to contribute to NIL because that’s the only way to get the goods. Coaches are requesting NIL funding when applying for jobs. We can’t have them come in bare or we will miss some good potential coaches

If we could afford him, Bucky McMillian would be a pretty entertaining hire.
Uptempo offense, pressing defense, high scoring. They were 7th in eFG this year and top 50 last year. 8th in 3 point % and top 50 last year. Long term success at a strong high school program and pretty immediate success at Samford. Not super unlike HCJS.
Plus I don't think it would hurt to have a younger guy that can help navigate ISU through the current world of transfers and NIL.

Well, if they don't, they'll need to add an extra year on to the contract because by the time a hire is made, they'll have put them so far behind the eight ball that it wouldn't be fair to consider their results next year. Especially with most of the guys likely jumping into the portal.

It would be malpractice to wait to hire a coach. I don't want the current crop hiring a new coach any more than any of us do, but if we wait until the president and AD are hired, we might as well shut it down for a year. Angie is going to have to do the hire. They have no choice.

You guys know this sport and current coaches 1ooo% more than I do...I'm just throwing thoughts out for a convo.....I couldn't give you any outside names. But if they want to strike quickly, logic might suggest a current assistant (Graves), or lightning could strike twice and they look at the current head coach at Lincoln Memorial.

I prefer to pursue a coach who's at the point in their career like Keith Dambrot was in his career when Duquesne signed him... give me the 55+ year old who's NOT looking use ISU was a stepping stone to a "bigger job" ... give me a coach who has a bank account, wallet w/ enough ca$h for him to be happy with our salary base

While that is true, it's a hop, skip and a jump from his house.
Matt Langel from Colgate is intriguing. Has turned that program into a consistent winner and (assuming we don’t drop back down to 275k), we could make a competitive offer.
I don't know who the next coach will be but I want someone who believes in an exciting brand of basketball and a CONSISTENT winner. Sycamore fans now more than ever deserve it after the past week or so!!
I think he is on both Vandy and Stanford's radar because he has shown he can recruit and win in the face of academic restrictions.
