Always amazed me that Gonzaga, St Mary's, Vermont, Belmont (with Byrd) could hold onto their coaches. That's how it should be, but I'm just waiting for that to happen here. Seems like the only way it could happen for us is if a guy like Odum or Khristian Smith (that guy loves indiana State) turns out to be hell of a coach.

Vermont is the outlier in terms of pay. But most of these guys have great salaries and long as contracts. Ultimate job stability while being well paid.

Few makes $2.7m at Gonzaga.
Bennett makes $1.1m at Saint Mary's.
Alexander makes $865k at Belmont.

I think I'd also give John Becker a call. He's been at Vermont forever and could be a lifer.

For the 2023-24 school year, Becker's base pay is $375,920. According to incentive terms in his contract, Becker has achieved bonus earnings for winning the America East title ($20,000) and being named the league's coach of the year ($10,000). For the 2022-23 season, Becker was paid out $75,000 in bonuses.
There must be some Indiana connection with him, or it might have been with an assistant, because he had an Evansville Duncan on the roster for what seemed like a decade, along with some other Indiana kids. Had the McRoberts kid too.

Every time I went to an AAU event in Indianapolis, multiple Vermont assistants would be there.

The one thing i'm not sure coach gets enough credit for is the type of kids He brought in. Yes they can all play uptempo and shoot but more importantly they are high character kids. Thats what makes this so hard to take is the community fell in love with this team because of the caliber of kids and that is going to be damn hard to replicate. This group of young men left a mark on the soul of Terre Haute and its heartbreaking to see it end this way. I wish them all success in the future , I just wish it was't ending this way
Feel really sad for all the kids who have grown to love these guys. They would wait in line after games for hugs, high fives, autographs and such. Really unfortunate situation.

He's a legit coach but I don't see him leaving the Catamounts -- he's surely had chances to leave and hasn't -- he's an East Coast/Northeast guy... shocked if he leaves for small city Midwest

Joe Pasternack is a name I've seen in about 5-6 coaching search threads so far. Head Coach at UC Santa Barbara and has an uptempo offensive style.

Didn't realize he was an Indiana alum until I looked up his Wikipedia page. Apparently makes $350k at UCSB.

Vermont only has 647K population base... next door N.Hampshire has 1.4M... the point is Becker HAS to throw a big recruiting net and I'm sure he's found small town, small city Indiana kids are quite comfortable in small city Burlington VICE kids from Long Island, Boston Metro... DC metro... to play his style of ball

FWIW... a helluva lot of UNO Coaches (Pasternack, et al) are Indiana natives or have ties to Indiana

ISU could pay him $360K and it would be a HELLUVA pay raise b/c of cost of living, lower taxes... but the water view of Terredise are different than the water view of Santa Barbara...

I’ve never donated. Don’t know how to exactly go about doing it. I can definitely do the minimum $10/month for CoC. You guys have been impressive. The fundraising by donors is something I never thought I would see and see that we can still pack the hulman center makes me believe in donating and supporting our athletic department and our next coach whoever it is

Also do like what the Minnesota wild did for there fans. Retire the number 1 Jersey for the fans. Because a lot of us have stuck through bad years and the good ones. I would love the university to get more involved with the community. Maybe have players autograph balls or towels and raffle them off at games. I’m sure a young sycamore fan would love to have that as a souvenir and hopefully put all the money in NIL. Our athletic department needs to get creative to make more money for coaches and players. No matter what we all still bleed blue! I hope we get someone that can actually build a programs and hopefully by the time the success shows that we can continue with new ideas for donations and will have even more money than now to keep them

If anything this just shows how much of an overpay this is for JS (if ~2.5m is true).

He a pretty good coach, but I have seen a tone of better coaches/programs not being paid that much.

Mark Turgeon apparently wants to get back into coaching. As does Gregg Marshall.

Saw it from a Wichita State fan that already wants to can Mills.

Gregg Marshall? What I way to drive off anyone still remaining a fan after the next couple weeks. If 1/2 the shit against him is true he should never be on a court again.

Man, reading coaching search threads one everyone's boards from across the country is really interesting. The people they like or dislike for reasons that have nothing to do with basketball are hilarious.

just names or style of play? we are spoiled with high-tempo share the ball now .

That list was just names that kept popping up on various people's lists -- elite recruiters, talent developers, x's and o's guys, great with parents, etc. Since they are all assistants, not entirely sure what their philosophies would be once they had the lead clipboard.
