Alright time for another poll... Probably a good argument can be made for a couple players on this roster. So interested to hear your thoughts.

Realistically. I can't cast a vote on this one. Everyone has accepted their roles and are performing them at a high level. This is one of the most complete teams to come through terre haute....maybe ever

I knew we would have someone with a TEAM first comment... Always one in the group lol

I mean come on. Avila is obviously the hub. But Kent has probably been the most consistent player and and has 3x his production. Swope does Swope things and is one of the most electric guards we have ever had. Conwell can get his but is more workman like. Larry is great on the defensive end but has been very good on offense with his driving/dishing/finishing. Bledson is about of perfect as a 6th man you can have in this system. I mean it's impossible to justify one guy as MVP

Everyone of these guys could receive a vote, but I would go with Jayson Kent. He has been the glue and playing at an all league level. The consistency and efficiency he has played with all year has been remarkable. Average 13.9 points, 7.2 rebounds a game, and has 5 double-doubles on the season. He is also leading the team in free throw percentage at 83% and has taken the second most free throws on the team. Without Jayson this year, not sure we are having the same success we are having.

Good topic of discussion.

Oh I know... It's so hard! That's why it's a poll.

I would have to vote Robbie. When he gets into foul trouble we are a different team. He’s pretty much the least replaceable guy on the roster. To me that makes him our most valuable.

Ah, I was wondering when this would come up..And even though it's been said many times, i'll say it again for any potential upset fans or family members who see it..We don't sniff 15-3 without ALL of these guys and what they bring to the table. The way they compliment each other makes each of them look even better individually compared to if they played apart.

When I look at MVP I think "if they weren't there, what would happen?".. Using that logic with THIS current roster that surrounds those 6? I'd go with J. Kent.. I actually think he is the least replaceable guy we have given the roster makeup. Nobody cuts like he does, defends 1-4 at a high level, and is a + rebounder with size on this roster. Is he the best player? I don't believe so, I'd go Robbie there, maybe even Swope?... But given that we have Bledson (who is like Robbie lite in many ways) and the fact Robbie has struggled to stay on the floor at times with foul issues? I think I'd lean Kent here as of right now, but it is extremely close..Good poll SSOM!

I had to really think hard SSOM on this. I had to go with Kent. Reason why at least with Robbie out, we still have Bledson (Who has an IQ like Robbie) (Not saying he is better). But we have NO ONE who can cut like Jayson Kent or defend the way he does with his length.

This is where I'm at, too. I would have really liked to run back the Bama game with him in the lineup.

You can make an easy case for Swope based on his scoring and efficiency numbers and I think you could also make a fringe case for Kent. One thing lost in the sauce is if you don't have that guy's movement, the offense doesn't run. He takes guys away from spots, his movement helps create space for other guys to move about the court freely as well as he has delivered some critical offensive rebounds and defensive plays this year.

Conwell has been too inconsistent so far but has potential. Larry just doesn't have the offensive game to be considered as overall MVP but I think he has been our defensive MVP by a country mile. I'd put Kent a distant second so far.

That said, they each just do a pretty good job working together and when they're all locked in and focused on their role, it's like:

Good stuff all... Yeah, I am falling in line with most of the comments here. If this was an overall "best player on the floor in a given night" type of question I'd probably go:

Avila
Swope
Conwell
Larry
Kent

I mean cutting to the basket isn't sexy. Rebounding isn't sexy. Catch and shoot spot 3's aren't sexy. Being in the right place on the floor isn't sexy. But as far as most valuable is concerned he's giving this team production in areas that it was lacking in the past. As has been highlighted in some of our other conversations - the scoring has come from a lot of places. We had one of our best offensive nights all season last night and Swope quite frankly had an off night. So the scoring has sort of proved to be replaceable - I hate to use that word but it's come from all-over.

So for "MVP" I voted Kent, followed by Swope, followed by Avila, followed by Larry, followed by Conwell.

I agree with a lot here, but here’s the thing with Robbie…we have lost 3 games. He didn’t play against Alabama. MSU got him in foul trouble and changed our entire offense for 75% of that game. Drake he got in foul trouble.

Again, we aren’t where we are without the entire 5 + Jabo, but to me the biggest correlation for our 3 losses are the minutes without Robbie on the floor/playing hesitant with foul trouble.

-Swope best shooter/scorer
-Ju defense/facilitator
-Conwell best driver and quietly good rebounder
-Kent is the glue, rebounds out of his area/keeps offensive possessions alive and finishes at the rim.
-Robbie the key cog that takes us to the next level when he’s on the floor and other teams building their strategies around him.
