No one under 50 should even be considered, no one over 65 should be considered.

Someone who can relate better to today's students and tomorrow's students.

Someone with a vision regarding the future and ability to see it through. Specifically towards current vs future majors. Ability to look at a changing workforce and help determine what majors will or will not be needed in the short and long term, while understanding that the University's hands are tied on this subject, at the whim of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.

Doesn’t have to love sports but has to recognize that sports are the front door of the university and important to some students and some alumni. If nothing else, stay out of the ADs way and do no harm to the Athl Dept NOR the student population to chiefly fund them.

Not a micro manager. Hire good people, give them the tools to do the job and get out of their way.

Interesting article, it didn't mention the thousands of Chinese Communist students that are studying at that institution... it didn't mention Daniels violated the very policy (enriching oneself thru a person's job in Indiana government)... it didn't mention Daniels' love of outsourcing a public service to a for-profit entity...

Perhaps the article should have spent time on Daniels' drug sales conviction...

And for the record, Daniels spent FAR more time in government than private business. (20+ in government; doesn't include his 9 yrs at Purdue or 3 yrs at the Hudson Institute), 11 yrs at eli lilly

I'll have to take your word for the claims.

It's not a state secret that Purdue has one of the largest groups of students from the PRC. Research if you choose, but it's "easy" to freeze tuition when a PUBLIC university relies on out-of-state students to offset that freeze. It's even MORE egregious when you invite in a group like the PRC. F**k, Jason - don't you work in IT? Do you TRUST the PRC to not direct these students to steal all manner of research?!? It's happened at other universities across the country and we're supposed to believe it WON'T happen at a school like Purdue??

And Google the drug conviction - it's available in the public sphere. What's glossed over are the number of prescription drugs found as well...

And if you do some simple math, it's about a 90 second arithmetic problem to total Mitch's time at eli lilly as his time in government...

Obligatory but not serious at all honorable mention to get em fired up: The Miracle Man, Big Shot Bob Heaton 🌳

Would be interesting to do a search history for the entire existence of SP to see if you don’t sling mud every time Mitch Daniels name is brought up.

Dude got a $350 fine for smoking weed in the 70’s…

That was the plea bargain, dude was SELLING dope and not just weed.

Daniels is a hypocrite - period.

Aren't we all.
Sinners? Yes

Hypocrites? Not sure.

How many other governors push thru a policy and then deliberately violate it?

Which political group is CONSTANTLY screaming at two sets of laws in this nation?

You sound like a woke lefty

Another thing I noticed is if we want better candidates, we have to increase the salary for the position. For example, when I was looking at Ohio U's search, the incoming President was going to be making $600k and Youngstown State's base was like $400k and up to $1m after potential bonuses.
