And don't forget the multi-million dollar tiger cage housed under the stadium. Mike lives there. Last time I was in Baton Rouge a buddy of mine that is an LSU alum was telling me that LSU spent something like 2 million on padding Mike's Cage...cause his paws were getting scraped up on the concrete

Yes, those SEC schools sure have it rough with their football-crazed, multimillionaire alums.

The Tradition of Huey Long

Given the Louisiana heritage of political corruption, I wouldn't doubt if Hurricane Katrina funds weren't used to fund this "cage."

I've travel a couple times/mo. down I-55 to Brookhaven, MS then criss-cross west via Hwy 84 thru Natchez, MS - Vidalia, LA - Ferriday, LA - Jonesville, LA - Frogmore, LA (now there's a thriving metropolis!)...finally arriving @ Alexandria/Pineville. No evidence whatsoever of Katrina rebuild $$$, although I'm sure that these are "hotbeds" for recruiting, given the nature of the population(s).

SIU got Carbondale to kick in a 0.1% sales tax to help fund "Saluki Way.". If I remember correctly, that amounts to about $20,000,000 for the project. I hope that ISU can get similar support for the forthcoming "Sycamore Way" project. That's just my terminology, but a $20M pledge from Terre Haute could get this thing off the ground...

That would be so huge. However, I doubt they could get that through in Terre Haute.

I was in Carbondale in mid-July. I saw some improvements going on..but nothing that looked to be $20Million...but the link shows what they are planning and it looks pretty nice.
