Indiana State also returns just two starters from last year, and the Sycamores are picked to finish seventh in this year's MVC basketball race. Greg Lansing takes over as head coach after spending the last eight seasons as an assistant under Kevin McKenna. Carl Richard and Jordan Printy are back as starters, yet experienced Dwayne Lathan and Jake Kelly also return after missing portions of last year with injury.

Good bulletin board fodder...

No one even in Honorable Mention for all-conference. Hmmm...(Colt Ryan? Are you kidding me? Seriously???)

I hope we play with a chip on our shoulders all season...:violent:

These rankings don't effect what we know about our team. We know how good we can be, this doesn't change anything. We wil just go about our business and I hope we will shock the valley when we are finished!

They just don't get it do they? Oh well, win and they will come on over to our side. The Sycamores showed a glimpse last season but this one will be BREAKOUT !

I was not aware that McKenna was here for EIGHT SEASONS...that is some good MVC reporting.:krazy:

That's not surprising. I don't know why so many of you think we should be getting all this respect. There are too many unknowns. We have a lot of local talent, a ton of potential, but it's not like the other teams have been getting worse and we did lose two of our best players from a year ago.

I agree. I do think we will be good and I am assuming you do as well but I tottally understand how people who don't know a lot about some of the newbies we have or aren't around them. We are also counting on a lot from Odum and Walker both who have never played a minute of D1 basketball or MVC basketball.

Well, he HAS been a State ass't for 8 years; just had that iowa break in between...

Have no doubts that we'll finish higher than 7th

I think the low expectations are perfect in that it should serve as extra motivation for what I think is a very deep and talented team. We will be playing an up-tempo offense that will capitalize on the athleticism of this group of players, and I think we have the potential to cause a shock wave beyond the Mo Valley. I understand Coach Lansing emphasizing the importance of leadership, so that the team plays as a cohesive unit even through the adversity that all teams deal with from time to time. But I think the secret should be out of the bag well before conference play starts.

I can see why Colt Ryan will get consideration as who else will be doing the scoring for the Aces? He'll put up big numbers again because he will be looked upon for doing everything.

I also can see the snubbing of ISU players as I see a team that will have many people contributing which will hinder just one Sycamore from getting league attention...I consider this to be a good thing actually as having more than 2 or 3 offensive threats is a good thing.

Yep! Getting little respect now is meaningless. Getting little respect at the end of the season is unacceptable. So many of us can't be wrong--unacceptable is not going to happen.
