The emergence of 6'8" junior Darrell Johnson (Parkway North) up front has helped take Baylor's team to another level. Johnson is still a work in progress, but he has started to show signs of becoming a force inside, especially as a rebounder and shot blocker. He blocked 11 shots in a game this summer against the Arkansas Wings. Johnson plays hard and with a lot of energy. As he continues to improve, his recruiting interest is likely to skyrocket. Young Darrell has a major upside and if he continues to work on his skill level, look out folks.

"Darrell has really stepped up for us," Jones said. "He is only going to get better. I look for him to really break out next season and put himself on the map."

#3 – Can Parkway North’s Darrell Johnson live up to the hype?

Coaches from all over the country are expected to trek their way to Fee Fee Road all winter long to see if Parkway North’s 6’8, 240-pound power forward Darrell Johnson is as good as advertised.

He certainly was last year, when he led the Vikings to a 16-10 season, while averaging 12.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.7 blocks per game.

Coaches like Illinois’ Bruce Weber and Mizzou’s Frank Haith have already been out to see Johnson work out, while several top mid-majors, including Murray State, Southern Illinois, Missouri State, Tulsa, Detroit, UTEP, and Indiana State, have reportedly offered Johnson a scholarship.

This season, the Vikes won’t have the same senior leadership they did last year. So it’ll be up to Johnson to lead the club in every way and prove he’s worthy of all the praise he’s received after a strong performance on the AAU summer basketball circuit.

This has been one of those few recruits that I follow closely...Strong chance we lose him to a BCS school but if we can find a way to grab this kid it solidifies our interior for quite some time. Still need a Point guard since we lost DJ Balentine to freakin'UE

PG will be addressed in the 2013 class unless something crazy happens.

He is a solid player, I think he would very well at any school. He will be an interesting one to watch.

He will be a good player, his body is ahead of his skills in some aspects cause he is still raw offensively. He will be a great player just needs a good post coach. I know MSU has watched him play but I don't think they have offered at this point.

that 2nd article mentions he is a Ball State recruit, so we lost out.

Parkway North kept things interesting by struggling at the line. The Vikings managed only 12 of 25 on free throws.
“We didn't knock down our free throws in the beginning but we got them in the end,” Johnson, a Ball State recruit, said. “That's what counts.”
The two teams had split in two previous meetings this season.

I saw that, but I wasn't able to confirm that by any news story and it isn't on their forum that I could find. None of the recruiting sites have him as a BSU recruit, either.

Kid kinda blew up. Got a ton of offers the last month. Memphis, Virginia Tech and Alabama are his finalists now.
