Of course we have, what do we look like a bunch of casual fans around here?

Are you going to come around here for the next 3 years and beyond and remind us of how we missed on this kid? Because it's not the first and won't be the last but thanks to you we continue to revist this topic...

Tell me more about this Van Vleet fellow. I've never heard of him. Is he good at the basketball?

I really would like to stop hearing excuses about having to "settle" for someone who would (lower themselves, presumably, to) consider ISU, and gulp, Terre Haute. Part of recruiting is selling your product. Every time I hear that we are restricted by ISU and Terre Haute, it makes me wonder who has the bad image in mind, the kids or the staff? I'm not sure exactly how bad ISU and Terre Haute are, but it sounds like we might have an inferiority complex. And that would be bad. Very, very bad.

Terre Haute and ISU should be a strength, not a hindrance. If it's not being used as a strength, we need to get some help in figuring out how to sell it that way. Funny how the admissions office isn't having any trouble selling ISU and Terre Haute, but some on this board feel that we should be ashamed of it. That's a load of crap.

I'm done. I'm getting more and more angry as I type...

Boy, are you way, way off. Aren't there about 300 Div 1 schools in the country? The point is not EVERY potential player in the freaking country has ISU on his list. Why can't you people understand that? Golly gee.

What the hell are you talking about? My post dealt only with people who constantly use Terre Haute and ISU as an excuse for settling for inferior players. Nowhere did I imply that everyone is interested in ISU, just that if we don't know how to sell Terre Haute and, ISU, we should get some help there. Why can't you understand that? Do you have to find a way to show how much smarter you are in every conversation? Golly gee, get off your high horse...

What in the heck are you talking about? We must recruit players that will consider ISU. It would be pretty stupid to waste time on players that will not consider ISU. You need to focus all of your recruiting time on players you have a chance to get.

Well I'm sorry. I think we sell Terre Haute and ISU to all of our recruits. I still don't understand your problem.
Maybe if you give me a quote of what you are referring to, I will understand and come down off my horse, but I will still be smarter. I can't help that.

Golly gee.

It wasn't even directed at the coaches. It was directed at fans who think ISU isn't good enough to attract anyone good, and that we have to apologize for the school and city. It's the ISU inferiority complex. I think the coaches are doing just fine. Some of our fans border on being ashamed of the school and city.

I don't really get that from most posters. I think some posters might be referring to the fact that for several years we were recruiting players to play at the bottom of the conference. I think we can get better players if we can prove that we are consistent contenders.

If I misunderstood you, I'm sorry. What bothers me is people saying we should have recruited so-and-so. It's obvious that you have to target the players that are interested and fit your team; and you are going to recruit players that you have seen play, probably several times.

Believe it or not, I don't post to piss off the few guys who can't pass up a thread and the opportunity to bitch. I actually hadn't written on here in quite some time and enjoy the interaction with people who like to talk Valley hoops and not just the Sycamores. I'm a big a backer as anyone else on here. I also never rubbed in the fact that we didn't get him. Asked a simple question if anyone had seen his numbers. He's off to a nice start. For all you that want to whine and cry about my post, get in line behind my 6 month old daughter and I'll change your diapers too. Gotta love the internet...if someone doesn't have the same opinion as you, they're an idiot. If you don't want to hear about it...DON'T READ IT

Count me as one of the fans who really wanted Fred at ISU - nice player now, and going to be even better by the time he's a senior.

Cool. Thanks for the offer. This reminded me of the "Oops, I Crapped My Pants" SNL skit. One of my favorites of all time.

On a serious note, Mr. Kevin, if you want to have a general discussion about MVC hoops we'd be more than happy to have it. I would think most have no problem talking about our competition and scouting them from afar. Van Vleet is a very good player, clearly, and Wichita State is a very good team. I'll actually be there in person to watch them at the Sprint Center in Kansas City tonight against DePaul.

The problem is you came in and resurrected an old thread that has a 19 page history. Next time, I respectfully advise that you just start a new thread if you wanted to talk about Wichita State and leave the Van Vleet recruiting thread to die its internet death.

Just got my entertainment for the evening by reading most of this thread lol. Y'all are something.

Congrats to Fred for being named an NBA All Star!! I know the Shockers are gone but Fred never played in the AAC. So MOVAL STAND UP!!!!

Like how we never ever offered despite having a link and his cousin letting the staff know? Good times.

Do Bryant McIntosh next.

Grab a box of Kleenex. It's a tear jerker.
Yeah that was a rough one lol. Ended up checking out the Rhett Smith one too. Pretty disappointed it went from debating how well he will fit at ISU/will he redshirt to he just transferred to Hillsdale. Where's the content for the year he "played??"

Well I think that likely mirrored his actual PT. I'd have to look it up, but I don't think he played but like 20 minutes his whole ISU career.
