'13 FL F Demetrius Moore (5/2/2013)

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Bird sat out TWO YEARS, and we all know now it didn't hurt him.

He grew from 6' 6 1/2" dripping wet at IU for the 6' 9 1/2" 225 lbs.

Not saying he's the next LB....just trying to set the record.

Not everyone had/has the work ethic, drive, dedication and determination of Bird. If this young man worked hard during his time away, I am sure he will be just fine. I guess we will all find out soon enough.

So is he more like Bird then McDermott? ;)

Nice player for the sycs! Does that finalize 2013 for the trees?
If they keep Samuels on athletic scholarship, yes. I'm going to guess that discussion is going on right now, especially if the doctors say he may never be 100% healthy again.

Preliminary scouting report is that he'll be in the post for us. Heard he has some nice around the basketball post moves. Not much of a shooter but is very athletic. Sounds like something we were missing from this year's team.

Myles Walker with more skill...
He's nowhere near as thick as Myles was right now. This Summer will be critical for him because Golden's piece had a quote from Lansing stating he hasn't listed much. If he can add 10 pounds of muscle this offseason, I think we're in good shape.

What is bothering about Moore, is that he wasn't "good enough" for LA Tech or Troy (AL), but is a "fit" for ISU.
Secondly, his Florida HS level of competition (1A) was the LOWEST possible, and the PR gurus gloated about him being 4th Team 1A All-State during his last season. After reading the coverage by Golden, you'd almost think Moore's the "missing link" to an NCAA Championship. After sitting out for a year, does anyone think he's gonna duplicate his '12 season 9 PPG/5 reb while also stepping up the ladder from JC to NCAA I?

A couple weeks ago, an area 6'8" "late bloomer" HS kid w/ outstanding ISU family lineage to ISU football opted to sign w/ S Alabama. Gotta wonder if we'd offered the full scholarship instead of the "preferred walk-on" if he'd be a Sycamore now? Surely the word was out re: Samuel's continued foot problems. Frankly, I'd have preferred Karaszia...an All-State IN QB (i.e. AARON KRAFT, Ohio State), who's surely already been introduced to the weight room.

Refresh my memory, you have seen Moore play how many times?

You're complaining about Moore competing in Florida's lowest class, and then you complain 'cause we didn't take Karazia, from Indiana's lowest class? Methinks you are contradicting yourself...

No shot Karaszia would of contributed in his first two or so years. Watching him play in that all star game he looked outmatched compared to all of the other D1 players. He may of been able to help us down the road if he developed but he is far from a finished product. I think Lansing and his staff sees next year as our best chance to win big in some time and a guy like Moore is more ready made than a project like AK. I would of loved to have Austin as a walk-on but we needed a frontcourt player who could help us this year. Karaszia is not that player.

Well said and accurate.

Some posters on here are known to make wild and crazy statements. It is our job to call them out and keep them in line.

There is a college FB/BB show on 101ESPN in the STL every Saturday and they were giving some love to the Trees today. Said they thought ISU could challenge WSU (somewhat). Also liked the recruiting class...

LOL - Ya, Lansing & Co. have really shown a propensity for gauging talent & developing/keeping our big men...you're probably right re: comparative development scenarios for Karaszia - he'll probably get more TLC @ S. AL.

Anyone have any idea re: this NW Florida coach? Just curious re: his coaching BACKGROUND and who some of his mentors have been. We'll start here and work in reverse:

Good to see 'Backer fulfilling his "Honor Guard" duty...sure don't wanna be "blackballed.":)

Southgrad07: How many games did you see Karaszia play during the drive to the IHSAA Finals? Other? Strong points? Weaknesses?

Bank what does this have to do with the young man or even his ability to play basketball? Bruce Pearl knows the game of basketball, his administrative skills suck and the assistant coaches got the shaft. This has nothing to do with anything about the recruit.

I agree with your first statement. Walker, Gant, Kitchell and RJ have all improved every year.

It's my job. It's a gift. A calling.

I saw Karaszia in the state finals and the top 60. He has a ways to go. No way I would have offered him a scholarship.

Mr. Negative "BankShot" seems to think if the basketball staff doesn't ask for his opinion they can't be doing it right. Needs to come up for air now & then above all that negative crapola.
