To be fair, his point has some merit. JUCO players over the last decade haven't fared well for the Sycamores overall. We've had some decent ones and we've had some flops. That said, I think the fact this kid had multiple scholarship offers indicates he is a D1 talent. As I mentioned above, I've received good feedback about him when he played with some Sycamores in an open gym. He brings something to the team that we didn't have a lot of last year -- athletic post presence.

What the hell, he never mentioned specifically JUCO players he mentioned post players in the Lansing era. What do the articles about Bruce Pearl have to do with the recruit just because his JUCO coach was a Pearl assistant. Talking about kissing butt good job!

I think that is what he was hinting at. Hell, I could be way off, too. If he wasn't, I'm not sure I get his point.

Mr. Negative "BankShot" seems to think if the basketball staff doesn't ask for his opinion they can't be doing it right. Needs to come up for air now & then above all that negative crapola.
LOL - good to have one of the "divine" piping in. BTW, how's the O2 up in NW IN? Nothing like living amidst the "clouds," be natural or artificial.

Re: "negative crapola" (I see it more as "crayola"), I like to look beyond the shadows of the media hype/SID "stretching of facts."

As far as the NW FL JC Coach (Steve Forbes), you can form your own opinion after reading the articles. He obviously has a magic "touch" w/ recruiting. Unfortunately, he's been aligned with a couple unscrupulous coaches & programs and has suffered "guilt by association" consequences at the hands of the NCAA. I find it hard to believe that as a "chief recruiter," his hands were clean. He was surely aware and benefited from the illegal practices , especially concerning Pearl & TN. As such, I'm not fully confident in being aligned with Forbes and truly feel that bending in this direction reflects a degree of futility by Lansing as he enters his 4th ISU season.

So using your thought process here of "guilt by association" this means that since there are truckers that run drugs, either knowingly or not, that you are a drug runner because you are a trucker and associate with them. I am sure that you will have no problem being excused from any jury duty.

Well, for ISU's sake, I hope we never reach that "jury duty" stage...IU is recent sound evidence of the punitive consequences.

My question is how does he have the "magic touch" with recruiting when according to you Moore isn't even any good anyway and the kid from Linton would have been a better choice?

None of "Banks" rhetoric has anything to do with Moore's ability to play at the D1 level, none of us have enough information at this point to make that conclusion and we just need to rely on the coaching staff's decision.

Karaszia was a late bloomer in basketball. His dad was an ISU FB player, his uncle a Small College All-American MLB for ISU (@ only 5'7" 175 lbs.), and there's no doubt in my mind that the he would've developed into quite a hoop specimen, especially considering that the focus in HS was on his QB skills.

Obviously, w/ Lansing losing the 6'9" Mahurin and 6'10" Samuels lately, we're frenzied about IMMEDIATELY shoring up his inside. I'm just not confident that Moore is gonna provide the quality of game projected on paper. His FHSAA level of play was @ a lower level than Karaszia...I've called 1A games before in Florida. Bottom of the bottom...

He also laid out a year after playing JC ball, and yet we're being influenced by the thoughts of his statistics from '12 (9 PPG/5 Reb). A steal? I'm not convinced.

Where did you read he is a steal? We don't need a steal we need a solid player that can give us 20 min a game. We are in a wait and see mode with this young man, he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

So we all agree that we need immediate help in the post, but you feel an 18 year old true freshman who is lighter is a better option that a 225 pound 21 year old who has played with some very talented college players (Carl Hall being one) and played on a team that almost won the junior College national championship? And you do this without having seen either of them play, yet when people who have seen the young man from Linton play and assure all of us that he would not be ready to play this upcoming season and probably next season, you still feel he is the better option for a team that needs immediate help. When those who have watched him play and point out that he is not ready to contribute for ISU, you accuse them of having blinders on and being part of the old boy network.

Just making sure I understand all of this.

Personally, I think the biggest reason you don't like Moore is because others do, and that deep down you want Moore to do poorly because you want Lansing to do poorly so he will be dismissed. I think if everyone on here loved Karazsia and he got signed than you would probably argue that we should have signed Moore and that we just wasted a scholarship.

Pretty sound logic...I note where Moore has gained another 5 lbs since signing. Not bad for a kid that's never lifted weights. I wonder if Karaszia's ever been around weights?

BTW, Moore was HONORABLE MENTION All-Conference during his final year, when they finished JUCO runnerup:
http://www.nwfraiders.org/pr.cfm?NewsID=2194
He was recruited by Forbe's predecessor, 13-yr coach Bruce Stewart, who died of cancer shortly after Moore's 1st season.

I have no control over Lansing's future...his record will speak for itself in the not too distant future.

Thank God you do not have any control over Landing's future.

Fair enough.

Like everyone else on here, I don't know what Moore will or will not bring to the table. All I know is that "on paper" he seems to be a kid that never is too far from the basket and isn'tafraid to mix it up down low and that is what we need more than anything. He doesn't have to be an All American (though that would be nice), he just has to provide solid post defense, some rebounding a little scoring down low.
