Absolutely. We definitely need to prove ourselves.
Two things, though: I don't think we should be too upset about the recruits that we are losing to higher programs. It is a step up to have players like that interested enough to get an offer. This year, we have recruited more players at the big 10 level than we have ever recruited. The progress that Lansing has made is obvious. And, it's still early. The '14 class will be signing for the next 10 months.

I don't mean the fact that he's heard it has no basis. I mean the criticism has no basis.

I think it is to early to tell if the criticism has basis or not that will depend of who we sign and how they develop.

Those thoughts have been echoed EVERY season. Good politics, in fact, good enough to get a 5-yr. contract extension!

The question still remains, did I remember that correctly or is the idea of pushing the ball a little more just a myth that I dreamed up? I thought it was a specific thought/philosophy that he laid out in his opening press conference, but my memory isn't what it used to be.

Does anyone remember if my recollection is accurate in some way?

I guess I was half right. He did mention his relationship with the Phoenix Suns personnel but it was Martin that said he thought they would run more. It looks like Lansing didn't actually say that, others just thought it was likely. My apologies for messing that up. Thanks to Bank for posting so I could correct my mistake.
