Don't see Greg leaving this season if he is signing these kids...First off these guys are not people without other D1 options (especially Franklin)..... therefore they probably wouldn't sign with a team that has coaching questions. Secondly, what university is looking for a guy who went under .500 his last two seasons???
As far as the recruit is concerned.....While Demonte lacks the eye popping numbers we all want, its not like he didn't produce at all. He has good size and over his two seasons there he shot 37% from downtown. On a better team last season he put up more efficient numbers. He was lead dog on a bad squad this year... I assume we are recruiting him to be a piece and not the man, which should be beneficial to him.
He could easily be a bust here, but I'm not willing to make that claim until I see him on campus. Sure I would of liked to see us grab a 6'6 AA JC stud, but if we are honest with ourselves the program is not at that level yet. Hopefully this kid continues to work and is ready to help us next season...Welcome Demonte!!

Up through the game he was injured he was 84/175= 49.7% and on 3's, 35/78 = 44.9%

I hope he turns out to be great. Still curious who he's replacing........ Would have to be an upgrade over pretty much anyone except BScott among wings, though.
It took 3 pages for anyone to welcome the kid... I bet he can't wait to get here and play in front of this jovial bunch. I wouldn't comment on it if we didn't have 5 or 6 members of this forum that welcome new recruits religiously.

A nice greeting is certainly what I'd prefer, but then why deceive him with a warm welcome? The anti-Lansing crowd is already slamming him. All it takes is reading a few posts about Brandon Burnett for a recruit to find out what they might be in for on this board.
Well I've slammed Brandon Burnett for 5 years so I'm certainly not going to sit here and pretend that I'm not the leader of that parade or I'm above anyone on here when it comes to being negative about players. Big difference between being negative about someone I've seen in person and someone I haven't. People haven't even seen the kid and they are finding ways to slam both he and Lansing at the same time. It is incredible.
My point is - I'm not the one that is usually on here welcoming someone to the squad, but we have a group that is pretty big in doing that and I appreciate it. It just seems that the Lansing haters seem to be a bit more vocal right now, that is all... Nothing that winning can't fix.

I will make an uncharacteristic welcome to Demonte (as well as Donovan and Jordan).
For all of you, I will be happy with your play if you:
1. Play hard every game (2 games a week, not that tough)
2. Play team basketball instead of as an individual
That's all I ever ask of any of our players. No mention of win totals or tournament appearances, but those will both be good numbers if all players accomplish the two items on my list.

Sometimes the cynicism on this board makes me want to puke. Hope that isn't the POV some of these people bring to their everyday life.
