For non P5 conferences, Lunardi automatically puts in whoever is in first place in the conference standings.
If that's true then why was BRADLEY in this spot last week? And DRAKE and about every other MVC team but INDIANA STATE all the weeks before?

I look at this frequently and we've NEVER been mentioned until now, and we've been in 1st Place since we BEAT unanimous pre-season favorite DRAKE on NOVEMBER 30th.

Repeat, we've been in First Place since 11/30/22, as in 2022 of last year, and this is the first time we've been placed in the traditional 14 Seed position for a MVC team by Lunardi.

Can’t answer that but is the truth. Look at any bracket prediction and whoever is in first place in the Horizon, MVC, MEAC, Summit etc will all be listed. They don’t pay any real attention to mid majors. They just look up who is in first and throw them into the bracket.

Lunardi is just as big of a P5 ass kisser as the rest of them. I get tired of people acting like he is some sort of wizard. What he does, hundreds of other people are capable of doing and probably do on their own time. ESPN just hyped him up to the nth degree

Can’t get over how bad Loyola is. Watching them get dismantled by VCU right now.

Valentine pulled the wool over peoples eyes last year. He is not a good coach. Loyola has over 20 turnovers and there is still 9 min left in the game. And this is typical for the Ramblers. They have to be close to leading the nation in turnovers per game. 20+ turnovers and only 44 points right now.

Loyola has some serious work to do if they ever want to compete in the A10. Still think they have the wrong guy coaching.

Go look at Lunardi's bubble watch. that will tell you all you need to no about what life is going to be like as a mid-major going forward. His non P5 teams are New Mexico (15-2), Memphis (12-4), Utah State (14-3), UCF (12-4), Boise State (12-4). St. Marys is the only team in his bracket or even getting mentioned that I would say fits a true mid-major profile - but even they have been a pretty damn good robin to Gonzaga's batman for the last 10 years.

The MWC gets a lot of love in basketball because of their CBS contract that pays out $4M p/school annually. CBS owns at least half of the TV rights to the NCAA Tournament; coincidence? The MWC went 0-4 in the tournament last season. They're usually way overrated.

Last night I watched the USI game on ESPN. They stated two interesting stats. First was their bigman that killed us inside, Polokovich, is the only player in Div 1 to have a 20 rebound game this year and he has had two at 21 and 25. The 25 went along with 20 points in that game. The second was USI was ranked 10th in 3 pt shooting prior to last nights game. Swope played out of his mind again last night like he did against us.

Butler is never leaving the Big East unless they get kicked out, which will never happen. It's better to lose and get paid $4M per year, than lose and get next to nothing like us. Honestly I think I have more faith that Butler will start winning again, than I do in DePaul and a few other Big East schools.

The Big East has usually been Villanova and then everyone else. UConn, Marquette, Xavier, and Creighton usually do well, but rarely ever make a deep run. UConn to their credit made some deep runs in the "Old Big East", but nothing recently.

I think why we get so invested in what Butler is doing is because they could of been such a key piece in an absolutely incredible MVC. Imagine a conference back in early 2000s that looked like:

Creighton
Indiana State
Bradley
Butler
Wichita State
Illinois State
Missouri State
Northern Iowa
Evansville
Drake
Southern Illinois

That's a hell of a conference right there. Now you ARE the premier mid-major conference. Schools like St. Louis and Dayton become legit candidates and you still have Murray State and Belmont right there if you need to get to 12, 14 or 16 teams. It really could of been an incredible conference but the MVC's unwillingness too expand past 10 probably cost them when the iron was hot. Yeah yeah I know a lot of dominoes would of had to of fell perfectly but it is fun to think about.

Butler fits in the big east in other sports more than Basketball this day and age. a great example, Big East Soccer is prob the best soccer conf top to bottom. Creighton was in the final four of the college cup (soccer version of the NCAA tourn) this year and Butler was ranked in the top 25 a time or two as well as a couple others l and continues to grow their teams.

And when Valentine was hired, the Sports Writers talked about him as if he was going to be the next coaching wizard.

Loyola is DEAD LAST in the A10. Just went and looked at Valentine's roster. Valentine does have an underclass problem this year. He has SEVEN Freshmen, two of which are Redshirt Freshmen.

^ That looks like a preview of Murray State knocking off SIU on Friday in StL😆.

I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get to play Kent State in that MTE now. Can't imagine the level of trash talking that would've gone on between our two squads.
