Not sure if the Valley is ready for Ms. Menser to hoop it up on the ISU MBB team

but yes, let's get Kante's son signed now - today
Sorry to be so late on this but we might want to pump the brakes on this one. All due respect for what Djibril did for us but I'm not so sure we would get serious with young Kante. I only saw him twice (at THN and vs Cathedral at semistate), but I have to say I saw nothing that said ISU or MoVal talent. He's either still very very raw or just not that good. Not sure if he even scored 10 points thru 6 games of the ihsaa tournament. That being said he's a senior next year, and 3 of their 4 leading scorers are graduating, so maybe next year he'll breakout.

His dad was considered somewhat a project when Royse got him, (per Royse Waltman) coached him up, great Sycamore

Agreed -- his dad was a helluva player for the Trees; really fell in ISU's lap -- thank goodness his parents were the visionary folks they were and pushed him OUT of gloomington

if the kid has the same heart and brain as the old man, he's a min. walk-on, if he earns a scholie, so be it

We need a couple of bigs. Heard any names?? Surely there's some in the portal.
How about Javariza Belton in the Portal from Southern Miss. 6' 10" 275 lbs. 4 star 42nd ranked center out of HS. didn't play is first year, redshirt, at Southern Miss so he has 4 years eligibility that had some fair number in High School. Cant find much else on him, even if he turns out to be a project, he is a very large (size) project for the Mo Val. But he could also turn out to be equal to Hittle or Tucker who we just got rid of.

Could ISU afford to feed him?

...even if he turns out to be a project...
Could you or anyone on this site please provide an example of a Sycamore player who was a "project" that ended up finishing their student-athlete career as a solid contributor?

This is a sincere question.

Brandon Murphy I thought had a surprisingly nice senior season for us.

Guess it depends on how "project" is defined... Pref Walk-on? Walk-on via open tryout? Inked to deal w/ crossed fingers?

I think all of you looking for the team to add traditional centers are going to be disappointed. I would look for guys with a build similar to Wilbar than bigger than him. Hopefully they would be more athletic. JS system does not have a role for a traditional center.
