I’ve been saying that’s the plan for 10 damn years.
Once they finally can get that silo, do you not think the money to everyone else stops?

Good questions…..not sure of the right answers but we already know Mid Major all conference players will be poached so would start there maybe.

Totally, but that is never going to stop at this point.
Since they mention football and playoffs, that is exactly how this would likely look and notice how FCS football isn't even on the radar aside from SycamoreFan96 and his Dakota brethren. They were able to silo that money outside of the NCAA entirely and distribute it to themselves versus college basketball is split and floats the NCAA and all sports, championships, etc. If that same group can silo that, all of that goes away.
I'd venture a guess Melo has never once looked at the NCAA Annual report and financials and doesn't have a clue how shit actually works.

2 year contracts. Mid majors need get together and quit trying to sit at the table with the P5 bc not sustainable. Really nothing new that has been said before. The biggest issue that needs to be solved like Jason mentioned is siloing the money coming in. How do mid majors get televised. Etc
Who enforces the 2-year contracts? I like that idea in principle, but it feels like a pipe dream right now.

Based on his conversation I’m assuming he is thinking the schools. Now that I think about it. I wonder if you go 2 year contracts at Mid Majors and 1 year at P5 Schools.
So to get out of your 2 year contract you just flunk all of your classes? I guess it’s possible for the school to enforce it if we just stop treating them like students altogether.
Can’t play if your grades are below the minimum. I would guess if you can’t play you forfeit the money. Obviously there are a bunch of things that have to be considered. Not sure what the right solution is but I do know what’s best for Mid-Majors won’t align with the P5. But having said that if P5 want to poach they have to buy the “contracts”. A point Melo made that probably have to stop treating them like students. At the same time there’s a school requirement and then there’s the athletic side.

No other program at ISU can generate the free pub that men’s basketball does. No one is even close. And we have never even tried to capitalize on it.

We traveled to Boston this week for STL Cards at Fenway and of course I wore Indiana State gear on the site seeing days…got several comments about Bird (including wearing my ISU #33 jersey to a Celtics game at the Garden). I think that was the point I was trying to make. Saying things should be done and executing those things are very different things. Right now these ideas can feel like saying we should just live on Mars.
