They had 3 NBA players - they didn’t need anyone from Kansas. If this was the NIL Era 10-15 years ago not even a p5 would have kept those 3 together for multiple years - money would have torn them all away. I don’t know what point he’s trying to make here but I can tell you it’s not a good one.

Stupid argument for someone I consider intelligent. Nil benefits his alma mater (Duke). Jay not objective about this. He is part of the P4.

Won't tear into him too harshly this time. Remember he said nice things about ISU on national television 2 seasons ago.

He’s a plant… just because he said nice things about Indiana state doesn’t give him a free pass at any point in time. He helps spearhead this disaster and he continues to pedal complete and utter nonsense.

Not many Talking Heads on ESPN or any major network that I would trust when it comes to NIL college athletics… if they wanna analyze ball in the game, then be my guest. If they want to analyze the business, the regulations and the NCAA tournament as a whole. They are bought and sold and can’t be trusted.

Anyone else agree he has a punchable face? Regarding to what he said….of course he isn’t looking through the mid major lens.

I posted it on Twitter, but there has been no talking head more damaging to college basketball in my lifetime than Jay Bilas.

He literally was the first guy I ever remember speaking on the power conferences needing autonomy and it was like a decade before they ultimately got it. He has never taken the time to understand the plight of a low- or mid-major program and he certainly has never had an idea of how to make the D1 machine work for everyone. At every turn he advocates for HMs to get more press, power, and resources. If he had his way, poors like us would be relegated to a separate serf division.

On top of his propaganda for over two decades, his network literally creates a resource positive feedback loop for power conference schools. They sign the major conferences to crazy media deals and then they get front and center coverage on all of the networks offerings while the rest are occasionally put on ESPN2, but usually shoved to ESPN The Ocho, ESPN Antarctica, ESPN+, etc.

Tone deaf? Check. Smug prick? Check. Punchable? Abso-fucking-lutely!

I mean… Everyone on any platform should just read this. Precise in every way. Nothing to refute or even add to.

Jeff Bidwell of Murray State started a Valley Podcast few weeks ago and today's episode he brings up Jay Bilas and talks about the holes in his statements that you have brought up @Jason Svoboda. Start at the 31:15 mark.

This was interesting read @Jason Svoboda
MVC is viewed as Tier 3 and I feel like it should be Tier 2. But I think they based it on what the conference spends as a whole on basketball which there may be some truth to that.

That is interesting. 65% of transfer portal players either move down, or don’t find homes? That’s a very poor decision by most players. Of course, One doesn’t know if he/she is in the portal by his own choice.

Should be sobering analysis for some.

I posted the graphic below several years back on the averages from 2003-2018. Also posted this in like 2023 and the numbers didn't move much. Ope.Ed.gov's newest data was from 2022-23 and our budget was $2,545,679. Just for comparison sake, football was $4,199,172.
