There is no planet where some of those Pac 10 teams save for UCLA are above ANY of the traditional Big 10 teams. USC should be 17 and Rutgers 18.

The NCAA killed it when they let the big east blow up in size. The big 10 and others followed. Also letting more than 1, then more than 2 teams/conference in the tournament. And now, paying players who were already getting paid with a scholarship. These I think are the big 3.

The WAC was exploding about the same time or earlier than the Big East; the Big East's fatal flaws were NOT voting in Penn State and allowing the South Bend Penal Institute to join in all but football

The $EC, ACC, Pac-10, 12, etc all expanded in short order

Allowing a 2d, 3rd, multi teams began in the 1974-75 season -- chiefly because Lefty Driesell's 1973-74 team (and it's 5 future NBA players, 7 future NBA draftees).

When the NCAA opened the door on the MBB Tourney, the Big Ten, Pac-12 (nee' Pac-8) began allowing 2d, 3rd football teams to accept bowl bids

not buying Liberty over Western KY
When you look at these rankings, you have to understand that the environment in completely different now (like it or not). Yes, WKU has better program history, but I believe a lot of the reasoning behind some of the rankings is NIL support. Liberty University is not lacking funds...

The reason is quoted in the article which backs this.

NIL is cheating in the open -- until there is a legit NIL database, I don't see NIL being a credible qualifier for any 'ranking'

I mean it's very much not cheating. It's 100% legal and allowed.

You don't have to like it (I don't like a lot of the aspects of it), but that doesn't change the reality that this is now the system we have to compete in.

It's cheating until there are rules, structure and one salary cap for Div I - regardless of sport, regardless of conference, regardless of school.

There is no "system."

Put some rules in place and then there's a system.

Conerway at IU played college ball in 20-21 and every year since. This is his 6th year. Does anyone know the current rule on JC as counted in eligibility?
