Smallest player on this roster is Ian Thomas at 6'3''. That's some good size. Unfortunately we don't have a bonafide 5 yet. Still a few more schollys to go!

Agreed with still needing help at the 5 spot, but I’m also not convinced we have a starting caliber, MVC point guard yet on the roster.

We have a true freshman, a redshirt freshman, and I guess a guy from NAIA who could play the position, but that sounds like a risky proposition.

Still plenty of work to do up and down the roster, but so far a pretty good start.

Need a couple of bigs. I don't see a center on our roster. Tired of losing games because we can't garner a friggin' rebound.

I guess you are not counting on FR, which I understand. It's just that Speckman is a 3 star and is much better than our "usual" center. Land might be ready to contribute also. Tre Williams was effective for us when he was a FR.
I agee that i don't want to rely on FR; BUT, When Kent Benson was a FR at IU, he played. Knight just told him to stay out of everyone else's way. If we get some real talent our 5 does not have to do a lot: set picks, rebound some and defend the rim.

On paper & as of this moment, I have optimism penciling in EJM, JC, MM, MK & eventually a portal 5 spot into starting lineup. Gotta believe this lineup would produce more than 4 conference wins.

Anticipate at least 1 freshman being in the rotation. Situation could arise for Speckman to eventually start. Remember Robbie eventually replaced for Cade as starter mid-way through his freshman season.

Agree, if Sycamores' are strong on 1-4 spots, then don't have to hit a home run on the 5 spot in the portal. But a home run would still be nice.

6'4" 6'5". 6'5". 6'8". ? (y)

I don’t think they’ve spent bonafide starter money yet. I wouldn’t be so quick to assume they plan/hope for any of these guys to be starters.

I think wayyy too much work to do and just too early to tell. Got to think they have some offers on the table to agents if/when value of players start to come back to mid major reality.

Not saying a few of these guys won’t be starters but I wouldn’t pencil any of these guys in at this point.

So you're saying the best is yet to come? 👀 I actually think waiting it out "could" work in our favor. I'm sure the staff has a strategy in place.

I am hopeful that we haven’t landed our best 2 players yet - I feel pretty comfortable with that analysis at this point. I will know more tomorrow night after the Bourbon and Cigar event.

The one thing I do like is the competition aspect. With ZERO production returning, this is as pure of an opportunity to TAKE a spot as any athlete could ever want. Those dudes better show up to the first practice hungry -- I know I'd be chomping at the bit.
Especially because there is a lot of playing time. I would expect Martin to have the edge to start.

Really, really wish I could make the Bourbon and Cigar event... wife may accept the 5 hour round trip for a game, (I never mention the stop at Charlies for the usual shot and a beer and a Tweedy burger), but to say, well Honey i just want o miss a day at work, spend $80 on gas (now @ $4.20 a gallon) to travel to Terredise to drink Bourbon and smoke cigars, would just add a massive Honey-do project to my already too-long list.
