WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

Typically when a girl would break up with me, I wouldn't keep posting pictures and messages about that girl

Would I maybe be curious and just see how she is doing? what her new boyfriend looks like? is it working out? where does she live? Wish her well or not wish her well depending how it ended? sure.

But i'm sure as hell not posting about it.

I'm following that same philosophy in this new day and age of college sports.

Kid could have a legend here (and most schools) and lived forever. But will merely be blip on the radar for the 4 fanbases. Wonder where he will take his kids when he shows them his "old stomping grounds"

He will be able to pick his school and pick how much he wants. Just the whole 4 years and 4 transfers really puts a dark cloud over his legacy.

I mean, not really it just further highlights the ridiculousness of this current era in college sports. Don’t hate the player. Hate the game.

That saying idiom whatever you wanna call it prove to be true well before it’s time

Yeah...I mean Ryan played the game about as well as you could to put himself into NBA potential. Glad he was here to help us realize our dream season.

Not picking on you, but I've heard that from a lot of people about a dream season. Was it, really? It was great, it was a lot of fun......but what did we really get out of it? It helped put butts in the seats and helped us show the university that folks will put up some money to try and keep coaching talent here. None of it mattered, unfortunately. We didn't get to see that team play in the NCAA Tournament with a legit shot at a sweet 16 or beyond. Sorry for the rant, it really isn't meant to be at you, just curious why people feel like it was a dream season. It wasn't to me....ended more like a nightmare.

Fair points but I wouldn't say it didn't matter. It definitely did propel us going forward as a Brand.

Multiple full Hulman Centers and a near tournament title. I was 2 in 79...this was as close to magnificent as I've experienced. And I was a student during the Menser years and a Grad student during the Odum years...those were really really good teams, but I didn't have nearly as much fun with those guys as I did with these. I will concede that the opinion of "Dream Season" is mine.

You have every right to hold the opinion that you do. Please don't think I didn't enjoy every bit of those packed house NIT games or watching us clinch the MVC regular season title or any of that. It brought back some of those memories from 2000, 2001. I missed the Bird years and the good times have been few since I became a Sycamore fan around 1990. It certainly was a very memorable year that, unfortunately, ended in a gut punch.....that still hurts.

I think the NIT worked out better for the team and fans than 1 game in the NCAA. It makes no sense to me to measure the success of a season by whether you get into the NCAA tournament. .
I particularly liked the team offense. I thought it was fun to watch and demonstrated how basketball is supposed to be played.

Hope Conwell feels so inspired to contribute to CoC as his career progresses. His year with the Sycs put him on the map. He was sure fun to watch play the game. Ready for next season!

I don’t disagree entirely because it was a fun ass time but I don’t agree either. You do seem to be implying that we would have been one and done. Every single time someone makes this argument about last season I’m very confused. A Loyola or Butler or countless other type of examples was very possible - that would have been many many times more exposure and better for Indiana State if we made a run in an actual tournament.

I get it though… It’s the self comforting reaction to say yeah we didn’t get in but man was that fun hosting games and playing 2 at Hinkle in front of all our fans bla bla bla.

I’m pretty over that mentality… That said and a bit contradictory - but the NIT in this current NCAA bull shit situation is actually probably what we should be setting our expectations for. Sadly.

Maybe we could have won a game(s). I just look at the odds. We were probably a 11 or 12 seed so the first game would have been against a team with a center that could play defense and some good athletes at the other positions.
