Yeah we lost 27-0 and the defense only allowed 13. Our defense is good enough to keep us in games, I just hope our offense is in the okayish range where they can score sometimes and not turn the ball over. If we can do that we'll compete in most of our games this season.
I actually have very high hopes that Elijah Owens will end up being a good QB for us. I really liked what I saw from him last season as a true freshman, and I think he's still technically a freshman since he only played in 4 games last season (redshirt rule). In fact my hope is that he plays well, but not so well that some other program bribes him away with cash.
I'm hoping we don't release one at this point. Maybe we can get lucky and catch Purdue by surprise the first couple of possessions.
Keegan Patterson sure has skins on the wall. I have a feeling he has a little something.

Backup QB. He was a preferred walk on at USC, but eventually transferred to a JC in Mississippi. Read his profile on Go Sycamores.
I hope he’s good, regardless of who starts chances are the backup will be needed at some point this season.

Illini is in a giving mode with Eastern. Not only a nice payday for football, but they also scheduled them for a basketball game.
The Illini even came down to Charleston for an exhibition men's basketball game around 5 years ago where all the proceeds went to victims of some hurricane the hit down south. EIU ended up winning that game too, but I have to give props to Illinois for coming down because most big schools don't do that anymore.

I was there for that game, and you would have thought people were walking out from a FUNERAL. There wasn't any HELL YEAH! HIGH FIVES! The other big thing I remember was a group senior men walking out mumbling and one couldn't stop saying? WHAT THE HELL DID WE JUST WATCH? Almost saying, did we WIN, cuz it sure as he'll doesn't feel like we won.

I hope they have that feeling again.
The most memorable moment from that game for me was at the end of the first half when they had 1st and goal from like the 1 and we stuffed them 3 times in a row to end the half. To add salt to wound we held them scoreless because they ran out of time to get another play off. Pretty sure they were getting boo'd by the crowd at that point. It's too bad we couldn't score a TD on that final drive and get out of there with a 1 point win.
Well, it's finally game day!!!
I remember watching it on TV just going ape shit wishing they would score to win the game. We only won 3 games that year, so that was their salt in their wound.
