I wish they were still open to the public like they were under Miles and Sanford. I used to go out there all the time and watch practices. I actually enjoyed that more than going to the basketball games honestly.

I did as well. Remember Dennis Raetz just screaming and yelling up a storm. He has the foulest mouth I’ve ever heard a football coach have.I wish they were still open to the public like they were under Miles and Sanford. Ya, agreed. He also found goofy ways to lose games on bad clock management, and just stupid play calling.Miles and his staff were pretty bad too. You didn't get that with Sanford. I'm not sure you need all that talk but Sanford's teams could have been a lot more dominate with some more discipline. All the late hits and
hits out of bounds cost us several games.
Shakier Bell! They were a fun team to watch however. We always had a chance to win.
All good. I think Sanford also has one of only two ISU FBS wins beating Ball St. that year (Miles beat WKU and I think WKU had moved up by then but I'm not 100 percent sure) Sanford's 2014 team also hung with IU all game and scared Purdue the year before.Oh, I wasn't criticizing him. He was a good coach and seemed to be a good man. We need to hire him back as offensive coordinator if all he is doing is coaching high school.
You are correct. WKU was FBS when we clobbered them 44-16 down in Bowling Green. WKU ended up finishing second in the Sun Belt that season with a 7-1 conference record, but lost all 4 of their non-con games to finish 7-5. They were not invited to a bowl game. All good. Tim McGuire wins in Ypsilanti! Good pull....forgot about that one.You are correct. WKU was FBS when we clobbered them 44-16 down in Bowling Green. We also defeated Eastern Michigan (1A-MAC) in 2001 21-14. Oddly enough ISU only went 3-8 that season, and EMU did end up winning 2 games that season.
Those two, along with Ball State are the only three FBS (1A) wins we have in my lifetime.
Hell Ya! We had a team then. Dick Jamison that was The OC at Missouri was hired in 1978. Raetz was his DC, Dave MGinnes was his defensive Secondary Coach, that became HC for The Phoenix Cardinals. He was a good dude. Raetz was almost A dude I thought would get carted off in a straight jacket after games. Lord!!Dennis Raetz team gave Louisville a beat down along with beating ball state and I think Cincinnati.
Yes Sir!Sean Payton
Yeah I guess those count as wins against 1-A schools you're right. Raetz really had a decent program going there in the early/mid 80s.Dennis Raetz team gave Louisville a beat down along with beating ball state and I think Cincinnati.
The talent Jamison brought in was amazing for our program. He had a lot of connections with high school coaches in Illinois. Raetz definitely kept up the talent pool. Our new AD knows what a good football team can bring ISU. I’m excited for the future.Yeah I guess those count as wins against 1-A schools you're right.
