As some of you are aware, our webhost suspended the site yesterday stating we use too many resources. I contend this isn't possible because we do not have many concurrent users on at any given time and we've got a relatively small database. I believe they've just oversold their server and they're trying to get rid of folks that use more resources so they can fit multiple clients in our spot.

Anyhow, I've identified another host, one that specializes in vBulletin forum hosting. They currently have a $13.95 a month promotion if you pay for 2 years, so I will be attempting to sell some advertising for the site in order to pay for the new service. I had just paid for 2 years on this host and right now, it doesn't look like they will refund. Just wanted to let you folks know in case the site bounces up/down like it has been recently. If anyone is interested in donating to the cause, please feel free to do so.

Sounds like a...

"good problem!"

So, "too many" users...

Hope the ad sales go well -- I'll search my couch and car for loose change!

But it isn't. This site has very few users compared to may forums I frequent.

Unfortunately, I cannot afford to shove more money into the site... hit the $800 mark in 2 years when I paid for the hosting back in November. Our Google ads paid out $23 in 2009... nowhere near breaking even. If I fail getting ad sales, the site is most likely closing down. The wife is back in grad school (IUPUI, getting her MSW and just started her first internship) so money and time are a premium right now.

I bet I find some 'folding money' in the couch -- it turns up in the strangest places!

It's a great site -- hate to see it shutter.

Maybe TJ or Morgan know some 'inside' sources of revenue

It's definitely the worst case scenario. I've sent a couple letters out to a couple business folks I know in Terre Haute. Hopefully they will come back with something... luckily, the forum software cost is now fixed, so that is no longer an issue, it's just the hosting.

The new host that I've identified, URLJet, costs $334.80 for 2 years, $13.95 a month. That is all I need to get covered, so I'm hoping the couple people I've contacted can make it happen.

I willing to help keep everything up and going.

I say if worse comes to worse - I know of at least 12 members on this site that will pay for 2 months of service. 28$ a person, that would keep the site up and running for 2 years, is that what I am hearing?

I can cut you a check about 60$ today, for the sycamorerunner.com t-shirts that I have been selling. I covered my costs already and every shirt I sell from here on out is a profit that I planned to commit to the site anyways.

Hey thanks everyone that is willing to help keep this thing up and going! I think that's great that we have so many fans out their that care about the university enough that you will offer up suggestions and many of you have joined the Varsity Club. I know some people get upset with the internal promotion of that service so to speak. But that thing helps generate some money to keep this site running.

I think anything we can do as a community to keep this site running is a HUGE asset to Indiana State! Would anyone disagree with that?

So I think if anyone DOES want to commit anything from a financial standpoint to Jason for the site, if you could shoot him a PM asking what you can do to help, I think that would be great. Jason has not asked me to post in this manor and I don't think this should be viewed as him asking for charity, Hell he might not even like it that I have made this post, I don't know - I don't really care! Many of us post and check this site on a daily basis, we love that we have a place to discuss Sycamore athletics and I think it would be a shame if it went away!

Thanks to everyone who has supported Indiana State University and helped make this site what it is today.

Who am I to say this? Nobody, this is simply me saying thank you. I am just another member of this site who joined 2 years ago and this is a place where I can show my love for the school that my parents went to, the school I went to and the school my sister goes to!

Here's an Idea!

How about a fundraiser?

How about a fundraiser?

I do about everything I can do personally from a fund raising standpoint - now I am willing to help in the planning process if you want to pull a group of locals together that frequent the site we can have a planning meeting at 7th and Elm or something, I am not apposed to that.

I took it personally upon myself to buy 100 sycamorerunner.com t-shirts for the site, I sell those shirts at 5$ a piece. I got the shirt's made for 1$ a piece - I know what you're thinking, Morgan is an astute business man - exactly! ahaha I have already made my money back on those shirts. Anything I sell from this point forward is profit - once I sell all the shirts my plan was to cut Jason a check.

I have committed some of those shirts to members of the Varsity Club, which reminds me I need to get those sent out sometime this week! UGH, so much to do so little time to do it! I think anything we do needs to have Jasons blessing and he needs to be included in anyway possible - this is his baby, he started this thing! He needs to have his hand in whatever we do!

Anyways let me know if you want to pull something together. Off to coach my 4th and 6th grade b-ball teams at the Boys Club for the night!

A couple of you have sent me PMs and said it may be a good idea to post my snail mail address for folks that would like to donate, so here you go:
