Wasn't nearly the game I was hoping for, but it was sure fun to see that arena rocking from both ends. The Redbirds fans traveled well and cheered hard. It's just too bad their team didn't represent them as well. McIntosh and Hawkins ejections were atrocious.

Maybe the MVC was trying to convince the Shockers to stay by giving them a little home cooking.....

Or they just had shitty officials.

Somebody call the Inquirer to get the scoop.

I would say both things were in play. Ill state sucked bad today and the second half yesterday. The refs sucked both days I was there. There seemed to be a continuation of the wsu bias in the valley. The problem with this bias besides screwing over the other valley teams is that it sets wsu up for failure in the ncaa tournament. They will not get the home cooking in the tourney.

Home cooking for the Shockers!!! Are you kidding me?? The Shox!! It wasn't that long ago that Marshall complained the Valley officials were always out to get WAU.

Marshal is always complaining. Yes he is a great coach but he is also a nut job. If any of the refs in the mvc had any balls they would tell him to shut up and stay in his area or he is getting a T. At that he would probably say something and then he should be kicked out of the game.

Illinois State shooting too many 3s.
This is what ended the game. Wichita State has this uncanny ability to knock you out of your offense and just lull you into jacking up long shots. They always seem to force ball rotation into a bad shooter's hands, too. I was at the gym watching the first half and there was a period of 2-3 minutes when they had Illinois State take what seemed to decent shots (in the context they were wide open 3s) but it was the wrong guy shooting and a reason why he got the ball with little resistance. It was enough for them to go on a nice little run and break the game open, too.

Essentially what Evansville did to us leaving our SR PG EC open all game long to shoot and score...

WSU's 9-4 record in the NCAAs, while being under-seeded, tends to point the opposite direction of your conclusion.

Almost Half of your wins were in 1 year. The one year you were a #1 seed , didn't exactly get under seeded that year
So your argument pulls no weight here.

I will give you one example and then if you must declare victory for yourself then that's ok with me. Van Vleet was famous for pushing off defenders with his of hand. He rarely got called for it until the ncaa tournament.

In his last 3 years at WSU, when he was the starting guard and played lots of minutes as the starter in both the conference and NCAA tournament, FVV averaged 2.5 MORE FTA per game in the NCAA tournament than in conference games. The statistics suggest, rather strongly, that not only is your stance unfounded, but it is likely the opposite was actually true.

Maybe so, but he was getting called for the offensive fouls more in the tourney. Like I said before, you can declare victory for yourself. It matters not to me.

Never ceases to amaze me how thin skinned and defensive many wsu fans are.

A couple of people make a joke about wsu getting home cooking or make somewhat critical comments about a player or the program and it never fails to bring out a shocker fan (or more) to argue.

Amazing that anyone associated with that program in any capacity would care what is said on any other team's message board, but yet here we are.

To play devil's advocate, that's probably why they have the level of program support they have. Their fans care that deeply. Wish we had more that did the same. We can't even get fans to go to games or post HERE with regularity.

This is true...

I agree with you both I suppose. It's amazing that a Shox fan would spend his time here in this cellar with mere mortals.

Maybe. But I can also say if we had success as they have had, I still don't think I would be going to each message board to see what people were saying and then making an account and responding to any perceived criticism.

I wish I had that kind of free time.

I wish we had cause to ponder the point.
