Maybe the MVC was trying to convince the Shockers to stay by giving them a little home cooking.....
Or they just had shitty officials.
Somebody call the Inquirer to get the scoop.
I would say both things were in play. Ill state sucked bad today and the second half yesterday. The refs sucked both days I was there. There seemed to be a continuation of the wsu bias in the valley. The problem with this bias besides screwing over the other valley teams is that it sets wsu up for failure in the ncaa tournament. They will not get the home cooking in the tourney.
This is what ended the game. Wichita State has this uncanny ability to knock you out of your offense and just lull you into jacking up long shots. They always seem to force ball rotation into a bad shooter's hands, too. I was at the gym watching the first half and there was a period of 2-3 minutes when they had Illinois State take what seemed to decent shots (in the context they were wide open 3s) but it was the wrong guy shooting and a reason why he got the ball with little resistance. It was enough for them to go on a nice little run and break the game open, too.Illinois State shooting too many 3s.

WSU's 9-4 record in the NCAAs, while being under-seeded, tends to point the opposite direction of your conclusion. The problem with this bias besides screwing over the other valley teams is that it sets wsu up for failure in the ncaa tournament.

In his last 3 years at WSU, when he was the starting guard and played lots of minutes as the starter in both the conference and NCAA tournament, FVV averaged 2.5 MORE FTA per game in the NCAA tournament than in conference games. The statistics suggest, rather strongly, that not only is your stance unfounded, but it is likely the opposite was actually true.I will give you one example and then if you must declare victory for yourself then that's ok with me. Van Vleet was famous for pushing off defenders with his of hand. He rarely got called for it until the ncaa tournament.
To play devil's advocate, that's probably why they have the level of program support they have. Their fans care that deeply. Wish we had more that did the same. We can't even get fans to go to games or post HERE with regularity.Never ceases to amaze me how thin skinned and defensive many wsu fans are.
A couple of people make a joke about wsu getting home cooking or make somewhat critical comments about a player or the program and it never fails to bring out a shocker fan (or more) to argue.
Amazing that anyone associated with that program in any capacity would care what is said on any other team's message board, but yet here we are.

Maybe. But I can also say if we had success as they have had, I still don't think I would be going to each message board to see what people were saying and then making an account and responding to any perceived criticism.
I wish I had that kind of free time.
