I can tell you that the HHS remodel is underway. The old building on Cherry has been torn down and the groundwork looks like it's almost complete to start building the new apartments across from the Tech building. I've heard that they're in the very early stages on the ICON riverfront apartments so no serious progress there (Could be wrong, just what I've been told). The HC update was supposed to begin next summer I thought? I'm sure others here have kept up more closely with that than I have. And I actually don't recognize the "Annex" markup. Is that the building that was proposed for where the Boys and Girls Club building is on 3rd street? If so, I thought I heard that had been scrapped. Once again, I could be wrong. I love the remodels and additions though. ISU is really starting to upgrade its look.

The first photo ICON building: nothing physical has been done yet.

The second photo I believe is a proposed student housing development at the site of the current Boys & Girls Club. I am not sure if that sale has been completed yet as they had some soil tests come back with contamination.

The third photo on Cherry steet is well underway.

The forth photo appears to be the Health and Human Service renovation which is also underway and features a new indoor track and field facility as well.

The last photo of the Hulman Center has not been started yet.

I remember hearing something about this project year or two ago. But for us out of towners, care to elaborate on what exactly is going on there?

That is / was the old Deming Center, nee' Deming Hotel... that had been used as low income housing...

it's being re-habbed into student housing

some of the previous residents moved to the old Warren school building

Three people who ought to know what's going on have assured me the HC project is a go. If these 3 don't know what's going on, I have no idea who does. It seems there is a power struggle with in the powers that be to get things moving a little faster. It also seems that is info had been here before. It may be old stuff for some while new for others.

Been catching up with online stories... Here is another photo of Highland Quarters on Cherry - sweetness - looks like it will be a fantastic facility with 3 and 4 bedroom apartments. Might be a an option for basketball players - maybe an unofficial Basketball Player Lodge.HQ_rendering_L3_0928_Final.jpg
I know some wanted to demolish the ICON facility. Tearing it down was not a bad option for sure, but keeping it and renovating it into apartments will be good, too. TH gets to keep a landmark facility. Heck, I saw the rental pricing online - really pretty cheap. If I were athletic coaches I might consider making that the unofficial athletic player lodge for track, baseball, softball, etc. What a recruiting tool that might be?! May not be all that far off from the UK player lodge. LOL
It's very impressive to me what is still happening at ISU and what has already happened. Progess is an understatement. Bradley is a blessing for TH and ISU - he is fighting for the HC to move quick, too.
It also looks like the Boys and Girls Club will come out of this with funding for better facilities and potential better location? Local officials deserve some kudos as some of these projects are not ISU based/funded projects - ISU and TH working together makes sense.

True! Why has it not always been that way? I can't remember the specifics, but it seems like there have been projects that could have helped each if they had worked together. It has been this way since the 60"s. If others in the ofc remember things differently, I hope they correct me.

What do you know of the indoor track and field facility? That's actually pretty exciting. Any spectator seating included?

It will be 6 lanes like many indoor tracks across the country. Likely large enough to host some smaller sized meets on. Think maybe Purdue University with a lot less seating.

A lot of 6 lane tracks actually have seating on the straightaways that hangs over part of the track - so you can only see the runners on the opposite side of the track and through the corners. Most indoor facilities are not very spectator friendly. Rose Hulman has one of the nicest 200 meter indoor tracks you will find and even they don't have the best spectator seating.

I think it will be a really big upgrade to what we had in place previously. Just from a recruiting and training standpoint alone it will really be a nice thing for our coaching staff and athletes. Pretty fortunate to have a new outdoor track and a new indoor track all will have been completed in a 5 year window.
