The Athletic's model was never long for the world. People have major subscription fatigue so to pay $100 for another media service is only going to be done by the absolute hard core fans that want long form journalism.
Hell, streaming media companies are getting destroyed so niche/new media just isn't sustainable.

Whenever was 37 considered young? I even quit counting - I literally have no idea if I’m 37 or 38.
I coached @sycamore_21 in basketball when he was in 4th grade through his 8th grade. That dude is a “youngster”… I can’t be a youngster forever. I’ve graduated.

I think you could too… I’m focused on getting Benny an NIL deal. My focus has shifted.

Gonna end up like the Little Hercules kid from the 90s where he was forced to be a bodybuilder by his dad when he was a child.
So I saw some posts on Twitter about it perhaps - but I've never actually clicked on an article or video about it... It's the dark side of social media and the world we live in today that I really don't spend any time with. Social media influencer culture is so bizarre to me and I do everything I can to avoid it. As you know - most of it like Baby Gronk you can see from a mile away so it's pretty easy to avoid.

It would be nice if the NY Slimes ever decided to cut 100% of their staff. They still haven't given back their Pulitzer Prize that Walter Duranty won them for being Stalin's favorite propagandist. They ought to be embarrassed, but they later helped cover up the Holocaust and I'm not sure they ever apologized for that either. The later they had a writer (Herbert Matthews) that helped prop up Castro down in Cuba. They've always been a garbage operation and probably always will be.

Imagine how different the situation with Curtis might be if we still had decent local journalism covering ISU. It's long gone though. Some of you may not like Kravitz or some NYT journalist you read about who died before you were even born, but journalism is still a valuable institution. The more we tear it down and distrust our government the weaker our overall society and country become.
Oh I’ve enjoyed Bob Kravitz over the years… It was more along the lines of what Jason was getting at. Just not going to pay another subscription to read print media. Too many other options for content. Nothing against Bob.
