If he got a FBS gig, it would be G5. Do you really want to give up a job where you can actually win to go to where you'll instantly be at the bottom of the barrel and behind the NIL 8-ball at his age? No way in hell would I do that unless I got like $10M guaranteed and knew it was my last job.
Agree. If it was me, I would stay too. Just saying, maybe he's a guy that wants to take the next step, if they win the Natty, & challenge himself at the FBS level. My guess is he stays, hope he does, but a "move up" would be appealing to some.

@needles True, Trent Miles didn't win a lot of games at Georgia State, but he got a try at FBS while earning a ton more $, & later received a super bowl ring.

All true, but I wish he would have stayed. I wonder if he does? He is back in TH isn’t he?

I dont think Spack has time to jump to a real P4 school. He'd have to turn around a G5 school real fast Maybe like Babers did and then ride out the school he went to. Pretty big gamble that might be worth if if you had a 7 year plan to retire.

School like that would Triple his salary and get at least 5 year contract.

Utah waxing Nebraska’s ass. Just amazing how that team used to be a powerhouse until it went into The B-10. Even before the portal and NIL, they never completed. Those goofy corn cob hats, haven’t seen One in a long time.

Not that I am keeping track, but the all powerful SEC, THE DEEPEST, Strongest CONFERENCE IN FB, IS now 2-6 in bowl games

The wins, Ole Miss over Group of 5 Tulane and the all SEC CFP match of Alabama over Oklahoma.

So, six games against teams from other power conferences and all are losses.

Paul Finebaum will again this year be explaining how the teams are all beaten up, mentally and physically exhausted and really don't care about the bowl games

Ya, it’s a head scratcher a team like Illinois beats Tennessee. I happen to like the Ohio State Coach, but cheer against them for having one of the highest NIL payroll in all of college football. Maybe if you’re a Buckeye fan, but don’t expect me or any other fans to be impressed by buying a team.
Miami really looks good so far. Let’s see what Ole Miss has in the tank after that Kiffin fiasco.

There have been numerous tweets about now that pay for play is above board that it derailed the SEC bagmen and competitive advantage.

Nebraska is interesting too me. They appear to have the resources, prestige, fanbase, etc. to compete for a national title but they haven’t even been on the radar the last 25 years. That athletic department has to be running some Somalian daycares or something

That's because they were paying players when they were in the Big 8/12. If you read some of the old college football books like Junction Boys they talk about the blatant $50 handshakes (and more) back in the day from the schools in the SWC and Big 8 -- basically what became the Big 12 like Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Nebraska, etc.

Also, I have a friend that is a massive Nebraska fan. Back in the day, they used to have an amazing walk on/development plan. They were one of the first to value S&C and they had a training table before many schools did. Local beef ranchers apparently supplied the program with endless steak. Once the NCAA put a kibosh on the roster caps, that also was something the caught up to them. Notre Dame also was a heavy benefactor from the unchecked rosters back in the day, too.

He also contends that once they fired Pelini, it sent them in a tailspin because they were just chasing the hot trends after that.

If I also had to put my thoughts on it, once they left the Big 12, they lost regional identity. I haven't looked at their historical rosters but I bet they got in and recruited Texas and then probably less after going to the Big 10. Also, information symmetry happened from the late 90s on where the Internet negated so much competitive advantage not just in recruiting but stuff like strength and conditioning, football strategy, etc.

I would argue that the Nebraska tailspin began with the firing of Frank Solich. It is difficult to follow a legend, so Solich winning 75% of his games as Nebraska head coach and going 9-3 in his last season got him fired.

Of course, the Ohio Bobcats owe Nebraska a big thank you as Solich raised the program to heights it had never seen and in his 14 yr run to become the all time winningest coach in MAC history. And his hand picked successor has kept the Bobcats winning including a bowl victory this season.

Teams with a bye in the CFP are now 0-6 after Oregon shut out TX Tech (23-0) and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Alabama and/or Ole Miss also make upsets today.

IU is annihilating Alabama in the Rose Bowl, now up 28-3 in the 4th quarter. A sentence I never thought I'd write. According to the radio broadcast the crowd is roughly 80-20 pro-IU.

Potential bad news for IU (or Oregon) is that if Miami wins against the Ole Miss / Georgia winner, Miami will be playing the national championship on their home field.
