Jason.....I have the program from each of the NAIB/NAIA tournaments that ISTC/ISU participated in with the exception
of 1946. They played in 12 between 1942 and 1963. If possible, check out the 1953 tournaments.....a wild outcome
in the semifinal between ISTC and SW Missouri.

4Q_iu: Check out the 1953 ISTC vs SW Mo. semifinal game in the NAIB....the best two teams in the tourney met.
Ultimately SW Mo. won it all, while ISTC finished 3rd. How SW Mo. won the semifinal game was bizarre...to say the least.
Avoiding SW Mo. then, as now, seems to be a good idea. According to the records I can find....we never beat them in
the NAIB/NAIA tournaments.
I have no idea why we don't have more memorabilia of the pre-1970s teams. Hulman Center has come a long way but there is still SO much dead space around. Why don't they paint "1950 NAIA National Champions" under the press box where they put the broadcasting cameras? Would it hurt to have 1946 & 1948 NAIA National Runner-up banners in HC? What about a 1968 DII National Runner-up banner? We have 10 conference championship in the pre-d1 era; why do we choose to forget it?

Those banners (1950 National Champions, banners for all of the Final Fours - 1946, 1948, 1949, 1953, 1968 and 1979) WERE in Hulman
They should return, as should banners for each conf title; heck - they could do a banner for each conference (IIC, ICC, MVC) and just list the years (ala Kansas' Allen Fieldhouse), they could do the same with a banner for the NCAA, NIT, CiT, CBI, NCAA Div II and NAIA
However - there are far too many people that only consider ## of sellouts or final fours or 30-win seasons the mark of a successful program
I agree that the old banners need to come back. Not sure why they disappeared all of the sudden, because we used to have a lot of the ones hung up that are mentioned above.

There are people working on a possible banner for the 12 NAIB/NAIA tournaments in which ISYC/ISU participated.
Let's hope for the best possible outcome.
By the way....in reference to an earlier entry regarding the 1953 national tournament...here is how it went.
ISTC and SW Missouri met in the semifinal....they were the best two teams in the tournament. In their first three games
ISTC had score 100 or more points....something unheard of at the time. In the semifinal game the score was tied at 72's with three minutes to go.
SW Missouri was down to 4 players due to fouls, but managed to outscore the Sycamores12-6 and earn their way
to the championship game. SW Mo, won the championship, while ISTC defeated East Texas 74-71 in the 3rd place game.
Let's hope for the best possible outcome.

I'm glad people are working on this. But why is it only a "possibility" and why are we "hoping for the best possible outcome"
It seems pretty simple to me: Order the Banner(s), hang them up. What could possibly be the issue with this not getting done the right way?
