[December 5, 2023] Indiana State (7-1) at Northern Illinois (5-2)

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

From the Haslametrics write up on our game: To boot, they are facing Indiana State, a team that has played their very worst basketball this year away from their home court.

They make it sound like we haven't won any games away from Hulman Center...:ROFLMAO:

Since this is automated, I'm not entirely sure how they differentiate neutral vs away.

I can't find anything definitive on this, but is NET updated on a daily basis now moving forward or just weekly? So like if some of the teams above fall out before our game, NIU could sneak in to the Top 75, for example.
The NCAA website is updated weekly: https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings

WARRENNOLAN on the other hand, if it gets updated more often than weekly, we can find out tomorrow, here: https://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2024/net

Looks like they have a lot of length and the only guy without any is a microwave.. Certaintly not the opponent you would want to draw on the road after the big Bradley win...But this is likely our only shot outside of MSU of getting another "quality" win in the non conference..So lets make it happen!

I actually kind of like the short turnaround coming off the win. Guys should be confident and ready to go. As we saw with Bradley after the Murray loss coming out flat…I like coming off the win.

Always better to come off a win than loss lol But just referring to mental high they were probably on after Bradley, to turn around and be able to lock in for a lesser name opponent who is likely just as dangerous as the team we just beat, in what will likely be far less than packed house??..Sets up for a tough game. Got faith in us pulling out a tough one though!

Yeah we’re on the same page. I was just saying more that I think this is a good turnaround for this tough road game considering last year we played them coming off two veryyy tough loss and just came out flat as can be.

Looks like their highest attendance so far was around 1100 fans. Hopefully we have a nice contingent of fans there.

Looking at NIU's opponents stats, their averages are really low. We may be the best all-around shooting team they've faced this year.

FG: 42.9% --> 53.1%
3FG: 32.3% --> 41.5%
FT: 68.1% --> 71%

Likewise, their shooting versus our opponents:

FG: 48.9% --> 44.5%
3FG: 36.7% -->32%
FT: 65.6% -->73%

Us shooting a full 10% better than their cumulative opponents is pretty wild.

In their two losses, here is how opponents shot:

Marquette: 52.2% / 36% / 61.9%
Northwestern: 60.7% / 47.4% / 75%

In their closest win -- 5 point win over Little Rock, here is how UALR shot:

45.3% / 28.1% / 66.7%

So we likely need a 38-40% 3FG% shooing afternoon on at least 8+ made 3s to get this win.

After what happened last season I don't see it with this group.
