The White Level
Being a new fan of the program, I was hoping to have a two-deep chart before the scrimmage last Saturday. But since they're probably still working on the real one, I thought I'd cobble one together for my own amusement. After I got halfway through I figured I'd go ahead and share it with the Sycamore Pride faithful, even though it has some shortcomings. I'd be happy to edit it as glaring errors are pointed out and seconded via replies to this post. I used posts to Sycamore Pride, the new online yearbook at http://www.gosycamores.com/fls/15200//statistics/alltimefbstats/FullBook11.pdf?&SPSID=601649&SPID=7269&DB_OEM_ID=15200 and my own observations the last two Saturdays to compile the following:

As I said before, please point out my errors and/or omissions via replies to the post. I intentionally listed 12 offensive positions to allow for various TE/FB/WR sets. I'm also listing four D-Linemen and four LB's until someone gives me guidance there, 3-4 or 4-3. For example, Jac Washington played both LB and DE last year, right? My biggest group of errors is probably in the second team defensive positions. Also, I'm not up on the injury list, so I may be omitting several players who will be in the mix as soon as they heal up. (Thanks to Jason S and new sycamore fan for pointing out my most egregious errors.) Keep in mind that many individual players will sub in for multiple positions first, not necessarily the person listed under them on the 2-deep. I'm simply trying to acknowledge some of the players working their way up the depth chart.

Richie Dyer...believe his number was 18...he led the rushing attack for both squads...and he is a freshman too! He's not on your list.

Richie Dyer and Joe McCormick both did well on Saturday running the ball, but I'm pretty sure they won't bump their way into the two-deep in front of Cheeseborough, etc. to give Shakir a rest here and there. I'd agree that the true freshmen did OK for themselves at the scrimmage.

Last year's defensive 2 deep from memory.

DE Obaseki / Boyd
DT Hardy / Young
DT Brown / Jordan Scott
DE Washington / Josh Scott
SLB Roberts / Painter
MLB Archie / Cook
WLB Davis / Archie
CB Burnett / Ullysse
CB Carter / Twoalid
SS Sewall / Easterly
FS King / Mitchell

Jordan Scott and Nate Brown were seniors. CJ Cook has left the program. When we went 3-4, Washington was the stand up backer. Everyone else was an underclassman. Maybe this will help. I know most of the offense I think. I'll do it next.

QB Fouch / Glass
RB Gates / Bell / Cheesebrough
FB Lough / Williams
WR Hilton / Nut / Lawshe
WR Kent / Riston / Goodlet
TE Jones / Mardis
LT Borchers / Jellison
LG Geffert / Wood
OC Lutz / Don't remember anyone but Lutz playing? Maybe Bichey here, too.
RG Burke / Bichey
RT Passwater / Ecmovic

Gates, Kent, Jellison and Burke graduated. Everyone else should have been back. Borchers, Small and Ecimovic are all gone. When we went to 3 WR sets, you often saw Kent and Hilton outside with Riston in the slot.

For the defense, Johnny Towalid is a CB--he is the nickel back in passing situations. Sewall is a safety, and Bettag is a SAM LB. Easterly was not dressed for the scrimmage--either he or Kam Mitchell will be Sewall's back up. Josh Scott and Dillon Painter were also not dressed for the scrimmage. They will be on the depth chart at LB, probably behind Bashir and Roberts. Tyler Boyd will probably be on the chart as a DL. Two other Freshmen probably make the 2-deep: Brian Cleckley at CB and Kendall Walker at LB. Didn't Mardis long snap for punts? No. 18 showed some promise, but remember he was not running against the 1 defense. He also muffed a punt and had a lost fumble--those will not get him on the field with Coach Miles. I'm worried about our depth at OL and RB; we look to be pretty solid everywhere else.

Take another look at the chart. I've fixed the biggest errors, but there's still work to be done. Keep the corrections and suggestions coming. Thanks to Jason S and new_sycamore_fan for the last batch of corrections.
