They just paid 2.3M+ for a 365k coach. Overpay is what you do in college athletics and you rarely get your money back

I don't know if you've been looking around, but mid-major players have been getting paid much more than that. These coaches will spend whatever their collectives give them access to.
 
Slime ball move. Poor example set for the young men watching him. Sure some of this is part of the gig and business. But there is a way you can also be honest and function with tact. This wasn’t it. I won’t wish him ill. Don’t need to. Karma always wins in situations like these.

Go Trees. Appreciate these boys and their efforts this season. It was a fun ride. I hope they take a long look at the character that they have witnessed and decide if it matches up with the message that has been preached. Make your future decisions accordingly, boys. Decide who you want to be, who you want to follow and what you want your brand to be. Terre Haute will always love these kids and what they did while they were here. The adults… different story.

I'm sorry, but Coach is an idiot. You had schools literally declining their NIT invites (w/ guaranteed home games) because they just don't care; and we sold out 2 out of our 3 home games, and then sold out Hinkle twice. Good luck ever finding that level of support anywhere else. Left all that just to go be buddies with some billionaire that will turn on him in no time if he isn't winning 25+ games and getting them to the actual tournament within the next 2 years.
 
So best case scenario he stayed 1 more year OR gradually declined until we fired him. Who cares how he did it. It would be the same whinny shit on a different day. If I were administration my press release would include what they offered him to stay if I were trying to attract someone not on the current staff. Id also say how much more NIL commitment they had.

In February, a poster on the Drake board posted that the word around AAU coaches was that Schertz was telling them he needed a team that could win the A-10 next season.

That was weeks before he followed Chaifetz on Twitter or this thread was even started.

I was afraid to post it then because it would've sparked a firestorm but that post aged exceptionally accurate. My inclination then was it was probably true, and with everything that unfolded since (following Chaifetz on Twitter, then all the other weird rumors on the SLU board), I absolutely believe he implied that to AAU coaches.

He has a starting 5 that could win the A10 this year/next year. Why would he think a HS kid is going to come fill in the limited holes when he could go portaling? Not doubting your comment but it’s strange to assume he can build that from HS players
