Also...he literally made his decision to come here in the middle of a final four run and made it public before the season ended. So waiting is not how he has always done things

Wait, you don’t negotiate for more money and make requests for everything you would need to stay….have all those requests met then, take a difficult loss and then less than 24 hours later gut an entire community?

Yes he does. Schertz lied through his teeth since Arch Madness. Look, I am not naive enough to think he should stay here forever....but when you are asked what you need to stay and every demand is met, plus some then you still leave, all while having had a "done deal" you lose all credibility. He screwed over this small, yet loyal fan base and our basketball program. We don't have cash flowing out our ears, but we are honest, hard working, blue collar folks who bent over backwards to raise funds to show him how important this was to us, but billionaires have those pretty yellow brick roads don't they? What an absolutely piss poor way to handle all this, we got screwed folks...rammed hard and dry!!!

Coming into a hostile environment here today. There probably isnt much you could say to appease people who have hurt feelings. Coach will move on and so will the fans. I wish him well. I’m obviously not a big basketball guy so this bothers me much less than these other guys. I’m sure its a stressful situation for him trying to figure out the best way to get to the jobs he actually wants to get. Both places have the potential to get him some where big and you have to decide which one has the better location. Either could turn into a disaster so I think taking the money is probably the better long term gamble. As far as our fans maybe we should realize that there isnt only one person who could win here. Good luck in the future

Schertz following on X has rapidly increased. I noticed shortly after the game last night he followed the Foster kid from Illinois State who's in the portal. Already recruiting for SLU I guess?

As soon as he started recruiting 2024 and beyond I felt like he was always recruiting for his next job. We all knew it but it just sucks now that’s it’s finally a reality.
 
Let’s lock this thread and throw away the key. So much emotion has been made here and for good reason, because we care. I knew he wasn’t here long-term, but going to another MM sucks (is stupid) even with a bigger payday. He’s been trying to please ISU fans with coach speak (and getting major donations even tho it was a forgone conclusion he was out of here) while kissing his shiny new toy. It’s bullshit and I can’t wait for his final announcement and hopeful questions about his tweets and carrying on about TH support/etc

We’ve got 2024-25 bball season to worry about now. We ended the season like 360+ other teams - with a loss. I was hoping we’d be one of the 4 that ended with a win

Naaaa a lot more needs to be said… Some of us have been holding out hope and holding back a lot of things in respect to his decision.

I will not be moving onto next season - my war starts now his over talking ass doesn’t get to own this narrative. Not this time!

Yeah he’s definitely led a lot of awesome people on. I’m just numb to it. I’m honestly really pissed we lost yesterday. We won the MVC reg season but aside from that - all of his success - we have nothing to hang our hat on during his tenure. We needed hardware
 
Who is in ISU recruiting class this year? Are they good enough to play in the A-10 against the likes of Dayton, VCU and Loyola? The A-10 is a mid major but is a quality conference. Shertz may pass on bringing them to SLU as they may be better suited for the Valley.
 
I guarantee he will not have an exit press conference. There are too many lies he has told that he could not explain his way out of.

He would likely shut it down after:

“Did you or your agent/representative have any contact with SLU during Arch Madness week while in St.Louis, despite repeatedly saying you have not talked to anyone or signed anything?”
