I mean if there wasn't enough NIL to keep players here so he had to go to STL to keep them I can see how that is a tricky situation; and we will see how it plays out. But at the end of the day he is a grown man signing contracts, having meetings, getting courted by billionaires, touring facilities, etc. the. Publicly says "he is locked in" to the season and won't make a decision until the season is over. I mean hell, STL didn't even sniff another coaching candidate for the last 4 weeks; that tells me all I need to know. It isn't a catch 22, it's a simple yes or no. Nobody forced him to do anything.

To me, as you mentioned, SLU not even being mentioned as looking for another coach for a month says everything without Coach saying anything

IMO Schertz should've announced he was leaving for SLU after Selection Sunday, but that he would continue coaching the team until the end of the postseason. You know give us the same notice he gave LMU. At least then ISU could've been actively searching for a new head coach, although hopefully ISU was smart enough to start doing that anyways.

You don’t need to defend him to this fan base. JS is dead to me. I will never once in my life root for a man that told us this place is special, and he’s building a program vs. a team, a man that negotiated with ISU until they were going to make him the highest paid coach by hundreds of thousands of dollars (all before earning a trip to the Dance), we had enough NIL to keep as many of the starting 5 as he will be able to poach to SLU.

JS is a fraud. He is deceitful. He will be controlled by a billionaire. That man will never be looked at positively for building a program in TH.

Thank you for one great season and nothing more.

Yes, this would have been the mature way to handle it..unleeesss he was trying to land a bigger job than SLU and then by the time those fell through we were already rolling in the NIT. So at that point he already had started lying to donors and ppl at ISU..so why not just keep up the lie and make these last few weeks easier on himself?

Jeezus....could we all just let Coach Schertz publicly say WHAT decision he's made and his reasons for it? Until that happens, all this speculation is like a fart in a whirlwind.
