I’m not holding my breath one bit, but our donors will meet this week to see if there is anything we can do.

With the hand we have been dealt, getting a few of the starters to stay and continue to build our “program” would be best case scenario.

Robbie just posted Instagram story that to me, would indicate he’s gone. Take that with huge grain of salt. Just my interpretation.

I think it’s safe to assume no one stays (maybe with the exception of Julian Larry).
 
Why couldn’t he have gone to a Michigan or Ohio State or *insert big school here* I would have still been pissed but like okay big step up in pay, facilities, etc. But SLU cmon man. A-10 comparable with MVC in recent years. We had a good thing going.

This scenario will continue to exist with the NIL structured in its current state. Players will jump for more money . Coach will jump for more money and NIL resources to field a competitive team otherwise you risk being mediocre for years to come. Get it while you can.

it's not about the money, it's not about Clink, we all understand the situation. and those are 100% understandable situations to leave that we could live with. It's what has transpired the last month, on social media, closed door meetings, what Schertz told donors. We were bamboozled. We met everything Schertz said he needed and then some. But he signed with SLU months ago; so why lead us on?

The numbers I heard Thursday from someone with their boots on the ground in the organization. Was Schertz asked for 800k to keep the band together. ISU raised around 1.2-3mil. And a lot of this was within the last week or 2; after the STL rumors, after the Chaifetz follow on X, etc. STL never looked at another coach, Schertz was going there the entire time. His mind was made up months ago, which is fine, but to do what he did the last 3-4 weeks is bullshit

We may have raised 1.2-3 mil for coach, but we absolutely didn't get anywhere close to $800k in NIL. At least nothing I've heard has indicated as such.

Getting his salary up is one thing, getting enough NIL is another. Those are two completely different battles and for whoever the next coach is, we have to manage to do both.

That's just what it takes to compete at a high level, and I'm sure there's a premium for an already existing team that has chemistry. Hell, AJ Storr just turned down $750,000 from Kansas...and that's just one player.
