Fudōtokuna: $chertz to $LU

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

Us fans are not aware of coaches & players psyche. No need to assume negatives about their level of commitment in the NIT championship.

I'm grateful for last years team providing us fans with an amazing experience! I certainly understand if 18-22 y/o say 'yes' to a ton of $. Most of us would too.

Concerning our former coach, still thankful for the 3 years, but I hope that in a decade we will say that his most significant contribution to ISU was providing us Matthew Graves.
Truthfully I'm just bitter and disgusted by the whole thing. If I had been good enough to play ball on a full ride scholarship at ISU I would have been here for my entire 4-5 (or maybe even 6) year playing career, regardless of the coach, and the money wouldn't have made a difference to me. For me, playing here would have been a dream come true, so when almost the entire team bails 4 or 5 days later on the first day of the portal opening up, that just doesn't sit well with me.

Lets be honest. It's for himself.

Dude fumbled the situation at every turn, knows it, and is still trying to convince himself that he isn't a media liability. All it would have took from him was honesty and dude would have left here upon a pedestal with a lot of folks wishing him the best at $LU.

"Rumors are true. I'm going to Saint Louis but I've spoken with the Angie and my new AD and they're going to let us finish this magical run. Lets go out on top!"

Instead, anyone with insider knowledge now believes he is a piece of shit and wishes him zero success moving forward. I'm sure he'll still win at a high level -- the top of college hoops is dominated with narcissistic egomaniacs but boy will it be sweet if he falls flat.

A public statement like that takes character... he obviously displayed he hasn't any

Yeah his mind was on $LU and the player$' mind$ were on their looming NIL deal$. 🤮🤬

The first day after the championship loss everyone is leaking on Twitter that he's gone, and the first day the transfer portal opens every single starter enters it. No appreciation whatsoever for this community and the support they received. Don't care about their scripted farewell letters, or the $¢hertz farewell that came like 3 days later after he officially left. Sadly this team's legacy will be losing two championship games and chasing the 💵💰.
Disagree. The players played their asses off except for the final 12 seconds or so.

Schertz "If we lose to SMU I'm coming back to ISU.".

ISU wins in dramatic fashion, goes on to sell out the Hulman Center in minutes the next 2 games. ISU then sells out Hinkle 2 times in a row. Donors rally to raise money never seen before for ISU basketball. ISU single handily keeps the NIT relevant with the 3 most watched games in the tournament including the highest rated game in 14 years. Probably the most media attention ever unfolding in TH. The rest of the MVC decimated by the transfer portal. Literally the guy has to hide to go out to eat he is so popular.

Schertz: "this run made me realize STL is the right decision."

And this guy is trying to sell us this story?
Really! Just doesn’t add up. He was gone before we went to St. Louis.

That makes as much sense as ……. My wife loved me so much. She cooked for me, kept the house clean, made love to me daily. That’s why I left her.

Classy dude. On point with him trying to make one dude on Twitter posting a hashtag a thing while he was here. I hope he loses every game he ever coaches for the rest of his career.

Dear ADs,

If you're doing your research on him in the future and come across this thread, just know this dude is the definition of delusional narcissist and doesn't know when to shut the fuck up. You better be damn sure he is your guy before hiring him because he will use your fanbase as a scapegoat so quickly your head will spin.

He's had plenty of time to elaborate on this misinformation, or provide his truth...and yet instead ...this.
We heard he was gone from the mouth of every source but him. And when it was time to come clean he says goodbye in a social media post. If he didn't have anything to hide he would have said it to our faces, shook our hands, and walked out the door a legend.

Well said. Wow. Classy way to throw the fans, all of us, under the bus, again. Would've been a meaningful & feel good post without the last sentence. Completely unnecessary.

Thank you for the 3 years Josh, especially the last 2, but please Kaizen your future social media posts.

I had the thought this weekend that perhaps after Robbie graduates, we could schedule SLU at the Hulman if Josh & ISU admin/fans want to mend fences, but name calling from him only hurts the fractured relationship.

Not trying to defend him how he left but there have been a small group of sycamore fans that on Twitter specifically that was hounding him and St. Louis posts ever since he left all the way to now so I’m pretty sure he was referring to those ppl. But regardless he just needs to let it go and move on like we did with him.

Good dig

Based on your comments and user name, assuming you're a SLU fan. Only a tiny sour, mostly over it.

Do not wish it on your fan base, but you might have a similar thread/discussion in the coming years.

This is interesting.. Austin is one of the biggest financial supporters of ISU basketball. Posted this yesterday...

That’s a great post. Said what a lot of us feel (and know to be true) but did it better than I could have.

I don’t think that’s the “fans” he was eluding too…

It’s interesting because he uses the word “petty”, literally to make a nice post and then deviate to throw some fraction of our fan base under the bus is the definition of being petty.

It’s also interesting, that he of all people would call anyone dishonest. His entire SLU situation was on the most poorly handled dishonest transitions in college basketball history. Now the fan base is the one being dishonest.

The guy is a grown ass man who still has a team playing this season that he’s now the coach of and he’s taking a cheap shot at fans of his previous school? Insane behavior.

I’ve texted this screenshot to multiple diehard Sycamore “fans” and all share the same reaction. The most diehard “fans” the one’s he’s referencing are the one’s that pointed out the truth - he’s using his platform to double down nearly a year later. Why?

I can tell you this - the current administration will see to that SLU never plays a game in the Hulman Center. He will not be welcomed back and I will personally see to it that he’s not. I have very little to no power - but I will move mountains to make sure that man doesn’t ever coach a game in that building. You sir are not a Sycamore.

He had a chance to really put his name in rare territory here and lead Sycamore basketball to places we haven't been in decades. You keep winning at that rate you would have built quite the donating base, especially with this new administration. But his actions and choices led him to chase billionaire dollars instead of great money from this blue collar community. He could have easily been honest and said its money too good to pass up. I thank you all so much for making my time here amazing, but i have to make this decision to set my family up financially for the future. It would have sucked, but i would have respected his honesty. That wasn't what happened as we know, and it's left a lot of people pissed about it....rightfully so. His narcissistic personality won't let him just move on either. He has to put a spin on things and make us out to be the problem and not his shady-ass behind the scenes moves. I say good riddance. If that's the type of person you are, then I'm glad you moved along. What a shame it all went the way it has, but what do you do.....be honest, I suppose.
