For those of you that have your weekend open or live down South, Sycamore commit Justin Gant and his Patriots will take on Castle in the Seymour Regional next Saturday.

Justin had 11 points and 11 boards in a 57-39 win over Plainfield in the Class 4A Northview Sectional this past weekend. Good luck to the Patriots in their attempt to make it to the State finals at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Should be a good matchup...doesn't Castle have a 6'7" kid committed to a Division I KY school? I think UE's Marty Simmons' kid also plays on the Knights (my alma mater) squad.

Yeah, Eastern Kentucky. I think you posted a recruiting profile or thread about him awhile back.

Radio guys say that Gant is being played one-on-one by their big named Stuts (with help at times).. Stuts has 14 pts and 15 rebounds.. Doesn't sound like Gant's best game..

Stutz was a stud today. Looks to be a great get for eastern kentucky. Little worried that Gant didnt play well against other bigs like Stutz or Chandler. I'll just pray that it is more that his teammates are not capable of using him right and not that he is just getting worked down low.

Not having Newton certainly hurt.. They were able to focus more on other players.. Still VERY disappointing to have the game: Down by 1 in the 3rd at the line with the ball.. Miss BOTH free throws and the deficit immediately jumps back up to 8 or so..

Gant- 11 points

Stutz- 22 points

Stutz also had like 18 rebounds Gant with 10.

A lot like what Chandler did to Justin a couple weeks ago.

I haven't really followed Gant very closely this year, so I'm gonna ask a question that is a serious question, not a slam. Does Justin get owned by other big men often? And if so, are these the types of bigs that, coming into the MVC, he should not have so much trouble with? Thanks...

Eric Stutz is going to EKU...I have heard from others that he was greatly underrecruited due to his height...kid is 6 8 and a hand ful.

Sounds like this kid was trying to prove something today against a fellow Div 1 recruit and really brought his "A" game. Justin, in games i've seen, usually holds his own defensively against other bigs....he does need to get much stronger though to be really effective. Terre Haute North had been ravaged this week with the flu and i think that played a part today. Jake Newton, a senior 6'4" wing player that played a key role on the team this year was so sick that he was unable to play. I've heard that Justin was just coming off the real bad part of the flu and that may have hampered his strength and stamina...but i'm not sure how much it affected him. Justin usually is very competitive and will be physical, but today he seemed to get dominated at times. I would have to think the sickness played a role....but Stutz was a STUD. Nearly had a 20/20 game....me thinks EKU got a steal.

Figuring a redshirt for him, then? Sounds like it would be good. I can't think of anyone on our current team that has been hurt by it...
