Perhaps the fear is that there just aren't enough tournament appearances to make individual banners look good? Do you hang banners for every postseason tournament we've ever been in, or just NCAA and NIT tournaments? There's a lot to consider there, and even at that, there just aren't very many appearances to hang. Maybe that's the issue?

But along those same lines, why is Carl Nicks' banner separated from the other three???

I think its the exact opposite. I think it's less impressive to have 1 banner with 4 dates on it (and a ton of dead space around the concourse) than 4 individual banners.

Here is what I would hang in there:
Retired numbers (4)
Conference Championships (11) 1930, 1946, 1947, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1979, 2000
Tournament Championships (3) 1979, 2001, 2011
NCAA Appearances (4) 1979, 2000, 2001, 2011
NIT appearances (4) 1977, 1978, 2013, 2014

Special Banners:
1979 Final Four/National Runner-up (the current banner looks awesome)
1968 DII National Runner-up
1946 NAIA National Runner-up
1948 NAIA National Runner-up
1950 NAIA National Champion
1977 Gymnastics National Champions (the current banner looks awesome)

Then of course you have any womans conference championships, tournament championships, WNIT appearances, retired numbers, etc. (which I don't think there is a ton)
