GCU basketball has been a growing story out here over the past 3-4 years. They've done a lot of things right. They have a local TV contract and their games are on a LOT (including re-plays). They built an arena that is apparently first-class (visiting NBA teams frequently work out there) but, maybe more importantly, the arena is appropriately sized (about 7K capacity). They fill the joint every night, and the crowd is close to the floor as might be seen in older facilities, and it is LOUD. The kids in the stands look like they're having a great time and their enthusiasm surely gives the 'Lopes a nice home court advantage. Watching a televised GCU game vs ASU is a night-and-day contrast - even with Bobby Hurley roaming the ASU sidelines. The GCU environment is vibrant and fun, quite apart from the mausoleum atmosphere so apparent at ISU's televised games. There are many lessons to be learned here, and it'd be great if ISU would go to school on this.
